I think we were all very worried, I don’t remember much judgement. I personally worried it was the end of the band and am very glad it wasn’t.

Alright, alright, alright at Matthew would say. Billie Joe says to tell him when it's time.....and I'm telling ya right now, it's time! Time for an album 15 thread. Now that the guys have all that Saviors stuff out of their system, it's time to get back to that Father of All Trilogy vibe that we all love so much. But push it to the extreme this time. a massive, 30 disc set every month for 12 months - each packed with doowhoop, falsettos, lady cobras - but here's the twist! Every song will be brimming with features, swedish song writers, trap beats - and so much cut in the product it will sound like a horror flick. But for real, the biggest question for me at this moment is how the next album will be received. I know I'm gobbling up whatever these guys put out, but would Green Day put out a Father of All sounding record is that's where they are at again? A trilogy? Trying and failing is better than not trying. American Idiot was a huge swing and it could have flopped and turned them into the laughing stocks of Rock music But they tried something and it worked out. So I'm all for them trying out some different things. Who knows what Green Day will be going into the 2030s.

I‘m really very happy to have found them. The Saviors tour was an amazing experience! And I love digging in their past, music, interviews, videos etc. As for the meltdown, I certainly wouldn’t have judged him. But I have an inclination to worry too much about a lot of things. And I know I would have worried so much for his well being and been afraid of the band not making it. Not getting new music any more, or silly interviews or whatever…. So I‘m grateful it all turned out well, and at least that dark time later brought us amazing songs like Forever Now and Still Breathing.

I'm so happy for you now having Green Day in your life, and I'm sure it will give you many amazing years listening to their music and seeing them perform. So much to look forward to and also to journey back through their history. I, like all GD fans, at that time, was so concerned and sad for Billie Joe and the struggles he was living through. Non of us are perfect, we all make mistakes, or things go wrong for many reasons. Its called being human, who are we to judge. Rather than being critical, better love and support can put things right. I though he was incredibly brave to willingly enter rehab' to get well again. All I could do was pray for his speedy recovery and light a candle for him in church. I remember seeing a photo of him in rehab' with his wife Adrienne by his side. He was smiling at the camara giving a thumbs up sign. That was so moving. Thankfully, he made a complete recovery and was all the stronger. That's all that mattered. And of course, as we know, he went on to continue writing and playing amazing music, that we where able to love and enjoy. ❤️

Thank you so much! Those photos are great! And I‘d love to read the article but I think typing it would really be too much work for you. It IS rather long.😉 Seeing all this I envy you for having followed the band for so long. What a journey! On the other hand I‘m glad I wasn’t here in September 2012, it would have freaked me out…

Photoshot of each page so far, obviously the print is to small to read. Trying to find way to enlarge, not having much success. otherwise may need to type article for posting on here, sorry. Great photos of band though. Takes me back, 1995, what a time sharing my life with Green Day. Billie Joe quotes: "We're not coming out with some tit-and-ass beerfest. We say obnoxious things and stuff, but I'd rather have my kid go to see Offspring than Poison." "We've worked our asses off to get to where we are now, to the point where I'm probably a little bit mentally disturbed." "We can't go, 'Duh, this sucks, the people paying to see me are the kind who used to beat me up in high school. I want my mummy.'"

Absolutely loved this song from the first listen. The guitars are awesome!

Maybe at a push include "Underdog" which was used for the National Geographic Underdog series, promoting specific animal species. Love this song.

This is the most singles Green Day have ever put out for an album, right? it gets tricky with the "promo singles" and "other charting songs" but gosh darn, no matter what you count or don't count - it's a lot. Dream, Brains, Dilemma, Bastard, Sox. Corvette Summer was a promo single. Smash it Like Belushi and Ballyhoo were the singles from the deluxe version. Suzie Chapstick feels like a single. 1981 and Goodnight Adeline charted. Breakdown had about 8 songs that charted some kind of way, but yeah. Saviors was the gift that kept on giving.

Well I was 15 when I first got into Green Day and since I made it my occupation to get all of their albums and my family could not keep up with which ones I already had and which I didn't, they all took to getting me "similar bands" albums for every birthday, Christmas or special occasion. I could just imagine them walking into a record store and asking the staff for their recommendation of bands a 15 year old girl into Green Day might enjoy. This resulted in my getting a lot of Blink 182, Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance, Good Charlotte, and other bands I cannot remember, and me hating them all because I just felt so patronized I have since revisited a few of them and still don't like them (although I have really grown to appreciate MCR's Black Parade since my friend made me listen to it to get me to go with him to their show next year, but I am still firmly not into the rest of their stuff). At that time instead I turned to discovery older punk and older rock on my own, and I did become a huge fan of those. But I do wonder if the situation had been reversed, and my auntie had given me a The Who album for Christmas when I was 15 instead of Good Charlotte, if I'd be a huge fan of Good Charlotte right now Anyways, very verbose answer, sorry. I really like Radiohead, but I would not think they are at all similar to Green Day

Here's the pics https://www.instagram.com/p/DQpaLV6jSVO/?igsh=MTV2ZzhhZjNkaXo4cQ== And yes, in my memory it was a secret show. I wonder if it's because Music Week is a trade magazine for the UK record industry? Yeah to me I thought it was a secret show so no advertising. I don't know why but I was really excited when I found it Oh I think I have that somewhere although who knows where! Back when Melody Maker was still a newsprint magazine as opposed to glossy.

My personal least favorite is Too Dumb To Die. I just don't really vibe with it. I also am NOT a fan of the American Idiot Musical.

Getting so close and losing definitely woke me up more than my morning coffee could. It really got the adrenaline going lol -
It was soooo rough! I eventually had to move back a bit as I was dying in the heat 😆 but so worth it! Yeah we did get a good few of what were new Trilogy songs that night (I think this was like a month before Uno was released maybe?) and some rare cuts. It was so much fun, definitely one of my top GD experiences Going back to the latest Green Day item I bought - it was probably some concert merch at Riot Fest. I got the album artwork black and white t-shirt with all the different logos, and the tote bag (came in very handy for holding my multiple bottles of water that night 😂). I want to order the Warning anniversary boxset but alas, I have a lot of bills to pay this month as I'm currently buying a house. I hate being an adult!!

Lately when I get to my bus stop in the morning, I think back to missing my bus for the sake of the Green Day scramble and trying to win entry to this event. Stressful but kind of fun! -
The project of brainwashing my Swiftie daughter has entered a new phase: she has just told me that last night she dreamed she was at a Green Day show and that Billie brought her up on stage. She just had the problem of not knowing the lyrics but she did her best!😂 Edit: @jengd Another work in progress!😉
-
Yes, that was my first thought too! Then be happy that you weren’t in Luxembourg when that guy on stage tried to play Wonderwall instead of Good Riddance…😅

Blink 182 have been considering similar to GD if I'm correct ??? If so, I would add them to your list. Although, I used to like Blur back in '90s but wouldn't have put them in same category as GD. I have this strange reaction that every time I even see the name Oasis, I wanna throw up. 🤮
