Lone Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Talk about the ninth song here. Lyrics Spoiler Oh, oh I love you Oh, oh I do I got a sentimental illness for you Please don’t Go away, oh yeah I was a high school atom bomb Goin’ off on the weekends Smoking dope and mowing lawns And I hated all the new trends Me and my friends sang woah-oh-oh-oh-oh It’s to the middle of the road At least it’s better than here Looking for a cause Well all I got was Santa Claus I’m hanging on a dream that’s too dumb to die I feel like a cello Lost somewhere over the rainbow Way up high Too scared to dream But too dumb to die My daddy always was on strike Goin’ off with the teamsters He said that everything will be all right Not every Sunday can be Easter The picket line screamed woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Don’t cross Don’t cross the line because You’ll be a scab not a martyr Looking for a cause Well all I got was camouflage I’m hanging on a dream that’s too dumb to die I feel like a cello Lost somewhere over the rainbow Way up high Too scared to dream But too dumb to Ah Yeah Looking for a cause Well all I got was camouflage I’m hanging on a dream that’s too dumb to die I feel like a cello Lost somewhere over the rainbow Way up high Too scared to dream But too dumb to die Song page on GDA: http://www.greendayauthority.com/music/song/764/
W_FInkThePlatypusHunter Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 It's a hard tie between Say Goodbye and Too Dumb To Die for my favorite song off this album. This one really strikes a chord with me for sure.
gd86arg Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 This song is like a mix of: The Ramones + The Replacements + Poprocks & Coke + Fashion Victim
Todd Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 What's up with the intro? How does that fit the rest of the song?
Jacqattack95 Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 i looooove this song, one of my faves for sure. took me a while to figure it out but it actually reminds me a lot of Fashion Victim
Teenage Kicks! Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I kept hearing him say "i feel like jello" Nice to see the right words 😂 My favorite song so far!

Steven Seagull Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 This is Fashion Victim part 2. Rolling Stone really don't know their shit at all. I like this song, this is how the whole album should sound.
Lacky Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I feel myself so involved in the lyrics, so this is one of my favourites for sure. So catchy and Warning-esque.
Steven Seagull Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Anyone else hears Missing You in the intro?
alecandstuff Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 This is one of two songs off this record that I have no real strong feelings about, it's not great and it's not bad. Musically it's alright (I do love the melody in the chorus, though) and lyrically it doesn't make any waves. Overall, a very average song to me.

Chin for a Day Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I like this song, but the vocal effects in the beginning are strange and it almost sounds like he is singing two different songs. The chorus and verse sound so different. One of my least favorite on the album

"Don't cross, don't cross the line because you'll be a scab, not a martyr." SO. GOOD. I love this song. LOVE. I needed more Warning-esque music in my life. Whether he feels like a jello or a cello, it makes no sense.
imXieli Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 this song is honestly the only song from the album that hasn't been officially released that i've listened to and i love it. dookie vibes everywhere like rolling stone said. ive also heard the end of youngblood and that sounds pretty good too. hyped for the 7th.
Jaded in Chicago Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 In my top 3 from the album. Echoes of old Green Day. Love it. The riff is fantastic. Also, at 2:29 where BJ purposely stumbles at the words, this really reminds me of The Who My Generation.
Hermione Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Another great song! I love the part when he goes "too dumb to......" and 'forgets' the rest of the line due to being dumb

greendepent Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Actually is my favorite song of the record. I always liked a more reflexive approach about things about life. Even if is a kind of personal song, seems written in a way that is not extremely personal. It gets me the same feeling about Rusty James. The intro of the song seems off, but if you put the lyrics in a "conversation" perspective, is like someone trying to explain their demons and past to the beloved one, trying to make an honest statement about himself/herself while not trying to push away the other person. It's like the first step to a very shy person to express himself/herself. Is the fear of rejection.
ElmoGreenDay Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Again, getting a lot of nostalgia from this one. it's another grower for me. I can see myself singing my heart out to this one

HungryHungryModels Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Based off of the lyric book, I think some corrections need to be made to this for GDA's lyrics. Also I feel bad for making a blog for my lyric video before realizing that I could have posted it here. I was tired, lol. Oh oh I love you Oh oh I do I got a sentimental illness for you Please don't go Away Oh yeah I was a high school atom bomb Going off on the weekends Smoking dope and mowing lawns And I hated all the new trends Me and my friends sang "Woah! Here's to the middle of the road! At least it's better than here!" Looking for a buzz But all I got was Santa Claus I'm hanging on a dream that's too dumb to die I feel like a cello Lost somewhere over the rainbow Way up high Too scared to dream But Too dumb to die My daddy always was on strike Going off with the teamsters He said that "Everything will be all right... Not every Sunday can be Easter" The picket line screamed "Woah! Don't cross!! Don't cross the line because you'll be a scab not a martyr!" Looking for a cause But all I got was camouflage I'm hanging on a dream that's too dumb to die I feel like a cello Lost somewhere over the rainbow Way up high Too scared to dream But Too dumb to... Libertine Angel Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Not bad at all. Not spectacular, but I quite like it.
