Nimrodness Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 LETS FACE IT. Green Day hasn't had much competetion since Blink-182 and Sum 44. Soooo... who's next? Let me know. 4 minutes ago, Nimrodness said: LETS FACE IT. Green Day hasn't had much competetion since Blink-182 and Sum 44. Soooo... who's next? Let me know. REALLY! WHO"S NEXT?! WHO IS?!?!
Stefano Bras Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Ehm.. chill out, bro. haha. And I'm guessing Blink-182 still is their "competer", since they just released California and they're touring and have lots of sold out shows.
tresexy101 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Pinhead Gunpowder or Foxboro Hot Tubs.
Alan86 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 What the fuck is "competer"?? and sum 44 sucks
Chin for a Day Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 As long as they don't beat my Jets I'm happy.
yodrann Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Twenty one pilots ? I know they're not the same musical genre but they seem to appeal the same kind of audience imo
stories and songs Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Do they have direct competition? Looking at other rock bands that are popular right now, none of them are in the same circle as Green Day, really. I'm sure there are fans who like many rock bands (obviously), but I can't think of anyone to compare Green Day to.
tresexy101 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Seriously though, I think it's gonna be the Red Hot Chili Peppers... Dark Necessities is a damn good song. I read an auto biography on anthony keidis and to quote Perry about his party in Ordinary World - 'It's gonna be sick'. But what I mean is the book was sick. I love you all.
onionbubs Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I always thought they were rival bands with the Offspring, but they don't have a new album out now. At the very least in the early stages of their career you could line up the two bands with each other, up until AI really. Though RFRG and 21CB and Days go by and the trilogy i think of similarly together as well. its really just splinter and AI that i dont think line up

Many could argue that RFRG was a huge American Idiot ripoff musically even though it was a great album but to be honest the quality is getting worse in my opinion. I really liked the songs on Days Go By but they sound so bad and compressed and their newest single sounds like it was recorded on a mobile phone.. okay, maybe an exaggeration but whoever is producing their music now (I think it's Bob Rock or something) needs to go and then band need to move on. Hopefully they find some inspiration soon and build an album that sounds fresh, and not like a remix of all the band's latest singles. Hopefully we will also have said new album before 2018.
Sixtrix Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Competition or not, I never get the sense that Green Day considers any band or artist a competition but rather complements them for their great music. Music should never be a competition really, and luckily Green Day is one of those bands that don't have to worry too much about the sales of their albums.
DeJennsitized Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I think they'll probably get an Acer.

Jaymee!! Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Sum 41 I would like to think would be good competition with their revival, but tbh it'll probably be like twentyone pilots or something. In reality, it'll most likely just be them against all of MTV and pop music.

I think they are out of Germany or something.
greenday4924 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 100% most definitely twenty-one pilots. No contest. blink, sum, offspring, etc. are all way too old now to appeal to the younger demographic. so is green day tbh
