PhillyPunk Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 It has been announced that there will be a Lookout Records Reunion showcase at Gilman Street called the The Lookouting. Now some bands have been announced but more bands who will be playing are to be announced soon. Do you think Green Day by any chance end up playing this? Or even maybe Pinhead Gunpowder or maybe even both. Here is a link to the event https://www.facebook.com/events/925558114217132/ Now this will be a great event regardless if they play but what a once in a lifetime chance it be to see them if they do play this.
PullingTeeth Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I hope so! It would be really nice if they did, I hope Gilman will let them play this time too ^^

It would be really nice if they did, I hope Gilman will let them play this time too ^^ Well they have played Gilman a few times since being banned. Green Day They played there 16 years ago for the Adeline Records showcase as a special guest, and well haven't they played there again in the past couple of years or was that just Pinhead Gunpowder who have? I'm sure if they do play this it would have to be a surprise or as the special guest otherwise it sellout so fast and well those who really want to be there for the over all event would get screwed over for sure. A friend of mine seen them at Gilman for the Adeline showcase and did not find out they were playing til she got there.
IsaGreenDay Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 This is already going to sell out pretty fast—Green Day or not. Brent's TV, Pansy Division, Corrupted Morals, The Avengers, etc are all playing. They're announcing the full lineups later this month. But yeah, if Green Day were playing I could totally see them being announced as "special guests". (You miswrote the title, it's "Lookouting")
Jesus of Seneca Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 All I've got to say that I really and truly hope/ need for them to put out some kind of live compilation album/ thing for this. Y'know for all of us that have absolutely no chance of seeing this. I would just die if I had the oppertunity to see this, Green Day or not.

Hermione Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Would be amazing if the Lookouts did! Or Pinhead Gunpowder . Or Green Day! No idea if there's any realistic chance of it but I hope there is.

I sent Cometbus a letter last Summer and he responded by saying they still talk about playing every now and then. He explained it would not be a spontaneous thing though.
Todd Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I hope Green Day does not play. Tickets for this event are going to sell out instantly, the last thing people need is a thousand Green Day fans trying to get tickets too. Green Day fans that don't even know of the other bands playing. I'm sure Green Day members would love to be involved in this, and maybe they are, but one downside of their fame is that they overshadow their surroundings, and I think they know this and respect the other bands enough to not participate in this event. I won't count out a Lookouts or Pinhead Gunpowder performance, but a Green Day or Sweet Children performance seems unlikely.
Insomniac186 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Hey guys a few updates on "The Lookouting" for anyone that is curious. -Tickets are on sale, Saturday is sold out. Multi-show passes are also sold out. -The booking agent said that they are purposely not including Green Day, because these shows are not about them. It's about the other bands that helped make this scene. I haven't seen any hint drops about PHGP or The Lookouts for that matter. -Two bands with members that are part of the Green Day "family" are playing; Monsula (Bill Schneider) and The Potatomen (Larry Livermore). -And for what it's worth, the booking agent confirmed to me that Larry from Primus with be doing lead guitar for Corrupted Morals. -I'll be there for the Friday and Saturday shows.
Libertine Angel Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I'm pretty sure Larry Livermore confirmed the Lookouts aren't playing.

I recall reading somewhere around the time that "Spy Rock Road" was re-released that Tre had recently rehearsed the Lookouts material and was open to the band playing again. They probably can't get Kain to do it. There's a lot of key bands and artists missing from the Lookouting. I know a few have passed away, but it looks like there's some folks that just won't do it for what ever reason.

That would be cool, though I think Tré has other bands on his mind at the moment There was some discussion on Larry's Facebook profile and I seem to recall him saying a few times they wouldn't be playing, though not why I don't think.
straighttohell Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Would be sick if Blatz played and Billie played guitar. On 9/14/2016 at 2:03 PM, Todd said: I hope Green Day does not play. IsaGreenDay Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 There will be no surprise bands. All the bands playing have been announced.

21st century idiot Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Just curious but didn't green day and lookout have a falling out a few years ago over back royalties? Which in my mind might not make them want to really preform for that kind of event.
