DannyDirnt Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Hi! Well, so Green Day's new single is out! What impressions do you have about it?
PursuitOfEpicness Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I can't believe people actually just think it's okay, haha i'm crazy about it
iScottie Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I like it as a whole. I could probably do without "Daddy's little psycho and mommy's little soldier." The theme and tone behind the song are great, though, and I look forward to the full album.
DanPak Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Absolutely fantastic! This album has the potential to be better than 21st Century Breakdown!
RoosterTeeth Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 The lyrics are almost unsettling to me. Billie Joe did a great job with the mass shooter culture mentality.

Yeah not the most original line, I kind of like how it's twisted to have a new meaning though (rather than just being some kind of lazy copy of it with nothing new brought to the table). But other than that teeny tiny half criticism the song is amazing! Absolutely love it, so catchy and cool sounding and brilliant, witty lyrics.
The Grohl Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I haven't been this excited about a Green Day song since I first heard "Know Your Enemy." I know people hate that song, but I still love it.
Steven Seagull Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I like the old school sound with the touch of Trilogy
MillenniumFan Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 28 minutes ago, iScottie said: I could probably do without "Daddy's little psycho and mommy's little soldier." My thoughts exactly! I still voted: ''I love it'' in the poll though, because I'm pleasantly surprised. I honestly thought it would be a disappointment; a slow, average sounding and over processed song, like some of the songs on the trilogy. This though, is the kind of song that leads you to hit the replay button over and over again, because the ending is kind of open and doesn't satisfy and you just want to hear the amazing intro again.
Juls Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I love the instrumental, especially Tré's drumming. Not so keen on the lyrics, personally I find them a little cheesy in places- I think Billie's written better. But overall I like it.
Christian's Inferno! Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Wow only 1/88 actually disliking it!

I actually loved this line, I thought it captured the mentality of a mass shooter perfectly. I live right near Sandy Hook, so I was immersed in it. I have a friend that lived on the same block as Adam Lanza. His father left a long time ago because he just could not deal with his problems. Then his mother taught him to shoot because she was actually a prepper, which is the movement of people preparing for a catastrophe by arming themselves and stocking supplies. So, I thought that line was just so perfect.
Snowman Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 First reaction - really glad it's uptempo. Production sounds fantastic.
teresa1988 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Well after the first listen I thought it's quite okay, but after the second listen I really love it and now I'm listening to it on repeat Can't wait for the album, I am so excited!
PursuitOfEpicness Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I've probably listened to it at least 35 times
PurpleIron1039 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 My love for it has waned a little bit since the 5th listen, but I really, really do like the song a lot. I can't wait to hear the next single, because if it's as good as "Bang Bang", I'll be pretty damn happy.
Mr. Shluffy Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 "I got my photo bomb, I got my Vietnam" is a nice little melodic callback to St Jimmy
localinsomniac Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I mean, I've only listened twice. Trying real hard to not burn out on it.
HungryHungryModels Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I love it. It's been on a loop here. I like the lyrics a lot. I like that it's upbeat. Billie's vocals sound amazing, like American Idiot/21CB/Trilogy combined. I actually really like the chorus a lot and the breakdown is my favorite part. The whole thing overall just sounds great and fresh Green Day. Though I have been comparing it to what it sounds like from previous albums (St. Jimmy and Dirty Rotten Bastards if you didn't see my FB post), I see this song as something totally of its own that really represents the current time, and a whole new era sound for Green Day. Super stoked for the album and tour! I'm guessing that the others songs' themes will touch on ISIS, mass/school shootings, and Black Lives Matter. Anyways, I am more excited and pleased than I can put into words.
EastCaitNowhere Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I love it! it's like a lovechild of St Jimmy and Let Yourself Go. It gave me that overall 'Green Day' sound and it's just made me more excited for what's to come!

Energetic. Just great all around

Let yourself go was pretty good and not slow at all.
Sixtrix Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I haven't been this excited since American Idiot was released as the first single
