Top10Music Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Hey guys. We're new to the message boards, but wanted to share our latest video with you. Top10Music has gotten a TON of requests asking us to compile and explain our Top 10 Green Day Songs. Given that the band has 11 studio albums, whittling it down to a mere 10 seemed impossible. We managed to do it, but we want to get your opinion on it. What is your favorite Green Day song and why? If you could edit the list, what songs would you remove and what would you replace them with? Seriously, this list was so difficult to make that we're convinced there's no right answer. Green Day is just too awesome. You can view the video on YouTube here.
Steven Seagull Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Awesome list! #1 Basket Case, I couldn't agree more. When I come around is also my second favorite GD song. I wouldn't put brain stew that high though. Oh and the list is missing Longview. Probably one of their most iconic songs. And thank you for not including JOS

And thank you for not including JOS haha yeah, it was hard not to want to immediately include songs from American Idiot, since a lot of them are so iconic. But there's so much more to Green Day. And you're right - "Longview" would have been a good one to include.
YoungBlood Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Great list ! - It's nice to see some really old school ones with No One Knows and I Was There .
unextraordinarygirl Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 It was a pretty good list and I like that some of the songs aren't as well known such as: Prostetic Head, I was There and Noone Knows. But at the same time where is Longview, AI, Holiday, or BOBD from AI or any songs from 21CB. I know it's hard to choose. I'm also suprised Good Riddence wasn't higher on the list.
petros Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Thanks for not including the mega hits of american idiot. Jesus of Suburbia should have been there though. And from my personal taste instead of the two pre-Dookie songs you included you should have put One of my lies and Christie Road in their position.
Chin for a Day Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 This was a decent list, I love that you included Waiting. However, there are two things I think you missed the boat on. GD is so much more than 3 chord, power chord songs. I don't think there should have been any pre-Dookie songs on there, they are so much better musically than that now. And, honestly, not including JOS kind of negates the rest of the list, no matter how good the rest of the list is. If you are putting together a top 10 list for any band, not just GD, I think you need to show their progession musically. I think JOS is such a defining moment of their maturity and progression as a band. How they have been able to adapt and change their musical style is one of the things that make them great and I don't think this list really shows that.

Their crowning achievement.
Steven Seagull Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Ha people already butthurt because JOS is not on the list We don't need American Idiot. Wake Me Up When September Ends is the only good song from that album.

Sixtrix Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Let's not burn each other down for disliking or less liking a song for whatever reason. Not everyone likes a lengthy song, or an outside-the-box song like Nightlife. There's a solid argument for everything, but if people don't like it they simply don't like it.

Steven Seagull Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Imagine there's no AI It's easy if you try No trash for us Above us only Trilogy Imagine all the people Living for Dookie...ie ieeee... Imagine there's no Green Day It is hard to do Nothing to bitch or argue for And no Blink one eighty, too Imagine all the Metallica fans Living life in peace... You... You may say I'm a hater But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the GDC will be as one
RedundantIdiot Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 The list is ok. I'd have put boulevard of broken dreams and JOS on the list. It was nice to see Waiting on there.

My favorite song from the album at that time was "She's a Rebel," because it was fast and short. My standards have since improved.

But "it's too long" is such a laughable, close-minded reason to dislike a song that's just waiting to be made fun of.
deadair Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Regarding the list, I personally don't think "I Was There" is anywhere near top 10 material. It's an average to good song at best imo.
