desertrose Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Happy Birthday 10/39 Smooth One of my top favorites. I love the sound. I first saw Green Day in 1991 in Petaluma. They were great. I have both cassette and vinyl. I listen to this record at least once a week. http://diffuser.fm/green-day-39-smooth-anniversary/
Alan86 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I was 4 years old, I won't lie I had no clue about Green Day at this stage of there career . Still I do love this album and I was lucky enough to purchase it on Green/white vinyl last year. So many great tracks on this album. The first 4 songs especially.
Maddie86 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 this is the only album i've ever owned on Cassette, CD, and vinyl
Maid Meringue Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Easily one of my most played vinyls to date, every song on that record is a gem.
okotavio Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I was -5 years old and I think it's the first time I've ever seen someone calling 39/Smooth "pop" punk
Hermione Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 It's always funny to think this came out the year I started primary school . What a great album, sweet and heartfelt songs about love, future worries and even racism and society. Really shows the beginnings of what was to come from the band, the tight and catchy music, the honest and thoughtful lyrics and the range of what they'd talk about was already there. I especially like At the Library, Road to Acceptance, Going To Pasalacqua and I Was There, love the whole thing though. 5 hours ago, Otávio Vidal said: I was -5 years old and I think it's the first time I've ever seen someone calling 39/Smooth "pop" punk The songs are super catchy, the guitar solos could've been straight out of pop songs of the time, and the love songs are sweet and sappy. They even had trouble being allowed to play Gilman back then because they were considered so pop sounding, singing about love and girls etc. The production might be rough sounding but it's totally pop punk! I think that's what makes the album and the band so good though, they've always included more than just punk in their music. And for me the bits of sappiness/cheesiness are definitely part of the album's charm.
TaylorKlinke Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 It came out exactly 3 months before I was born! Crazy how long Green Day's been around
unextraordinarygirl Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 This is one of my favorite Green Day albums! I listen to it over and over again and never get sick of it.

Road to Acceptance and Green Day are my favorites, but Pasalacqua, At the Library, and Disappearing Boy are probably the best songs on it.
The Great Saiyaman Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Awesome album! I need to listen to it more. "Green Day" is easily my favorite song on it.
