BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 This place is in general very Green Day positive to let's talk about things we dislike about this band for a change.
Mary Daze Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I always thought the unpopular opinions thread was about exactly this. Anyway, I hated that the Trilogy tour seemed so poorly done compared to the 21CB tour. I'm not talking about cancelled shows. But at non-festival shows they didn't even have screens!!!!! Like WTF!?? The support bands also weren't as good as in 2010.
Private Ale. Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I actually haven't seen that positivity but may be it was a positive place years ago. Anyway, i hate green day haters.

And I didn't really like their setlist douring the 99 Revolutions tour. Like it wasn't extremely bad, but it could've been better.
Steven Seagull Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 They are not extremely technically talented musicians and even if they secretly are, they don't display that talent in their music. They're just another band trying to maximize their fame on bashing Bush rather than making music outside of a few power chords. I know lyrics are a matter of opinion but, I've never been remotely impressed by them. I would be willing to bet that in 5 to 10, maybe less, years this band will be dead. They are also an emo band only teenagers listen to. Their fans are always ****ing whining about the fact that people hate Green Day GET OVER IT!

Like it wasn't extremely bad, but it could've been better. I've seen them once on the 21CB tour and 5 times during the promo tour and trilogy tour. The 21CB one was the best. By far. All those little details. I know they didn't make much money or even made losses with the 21CB tour because of the rather cheap ticket prices. I mean, look at what they had: T-shirts with all tour dates and then the individual location and date on top, they PRINTED the confetti (they literally printed "Green Day" or those 21CB skulls on EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF CONFETTI!!), also the wristbands you got when you entered the front section. It said "Green Day 21st Century Breakdown Tour" in this cool font (not even bands like AC/DC do this!), they had a shit lot of pyro/fireworks going on (Bang Bang! And the broken glass...) of course the 21CB tour was a little crazy and full of those details. It was such an amazing tour. I understand that venues get more expensive. Touring overall gets more expensive. I understand that they can't really do as much as back in 2010 anymore. But no screens - that was really really poor in my opinion. This is the main reason I hope the new album will be big. I want a nice tour, many shows all around the world. I'm hoping for India, Russia again, South America and so on. They need screens. All of this is only possible if the album or the first single sell well.

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to see them during that tour but I did follow all the updates on the internet and I know people that went and honestly it just seemed perfect under every aspect, which is why when I finally saw them during the 99R tour I was a little... disappointed, for lack of a better word. I really hope the next album will at least sell more than the Trilogy. I don't think it'll happen unless they change their sound again though.
Hermione Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I think Unpopular Green Day Opinions already covers this. Continue hating there!
