TimmyChunks Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 For those who may not know, Timmy was the ever present guitar tech/ roadie for GD from the early days (not sure when exactly) through the Nimrod era (also not sure when exactly, I last recall him from personal experience being on tour as guitar tech in perhaps '98/99). Most famously, he was featured in the Good Riddance official video, and I remember him from the live performances/ soundchecking the guitars at live shows and event performing backup in some songs (KFAD?) in later shows. I adopted his name for my screen name when I joined the forum as I always thought he was a really interesting part of GD history. What happened with this guy? Anyone know what he's up to these days? Much like their old ever present Samoan bodyguard (Jimmy?) of the same era he seemed to disappear in thin air. What happened?
Todd Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I love in this show, during the Westbound Sign soundcheck, you can hear someone say "That's Timmy Chunks! Their roadie!"
PursuitOfEpicness Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Can we talk about how great the name "Timmy Chunks" is?

Ham Pascale Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 After some googling I discovered a few following things: As of December 2008, Timmy Chunks, as a vocalist, played three Token Entry (his old, pre-Green Day band) re-union shows; Played a Token Entry set at This Is Hardcore Fest in 2011 - video; Played one song at a Bouncing Souls show in 2008 - video; In 2007, Timmy worked as a guitar/keyboard tech (and, from what I understand, he still does that kind of stuff) for Beastie Boys - source; This and this; Chunksaah Records is still around, but unsure if Timmy still has something do with it; May have an Instagram account, but, again, unsure if it's the right Timmy Chunks; Probably lives in New York, although was reported to have lived in LA at some point in 00's.

Sorry to say I am not the real Timmy Chunks- I just chose the user name as I always thought he was a cool roadie presence back in the day, and also thought it was interesting how he just kind of left the scene. He must have played a pretty big role in Green Day for a long period of time as a roadie and tech, as I remember him from their earlier live shows all the way through the Warning era. It'd be nice if someone asked Green Day about the history and whether they keep in touch in a future interview. Timmy, if you are out there, you are not forgotten! I also still wonder about that huge Samoan looking bodyguard of Billie's- he was around during the same era and left at about the same time as Timmy. I always thought it was cool how he always seemed to lurk slightly offstage but in partial view, and you could see him bobbing his head and even mouthing the lyrics of some songs all the while keeping a close eye on Billie and his safety. I have long searched the web for any evidence of a live performance of the song as it's been in my Green Day top 5 forever. Thank you so much for posting this! thatamberchick Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Anyone know who the main bodyguard guy was for the revrad tour this year? Shaved back and sides/long on top hair cut, looks mean but is nice as hell?
DeJennsitized Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Maybe we should rename this thread "Search for the Unsung Heroes"

You can find a few pics of him if you search his name on GDC. And I read your post wrong at first and was wondering how you knew he had a shaved back.

And as mentioned earlier he's a good example of why you can't judge a book by its cover- he looks ferocious (and I bet he would be if anyone ever acted out of line), but the guy really cool. In case you were wondering, he's been Armstrong security since at least before the 21CB tour. I don't know exactly when he started, but he may have been around during the AI era as well. I thought they had all lost touch but this would be nice if he were still somewhat around the scene. On 1/26/2016 at 3:04 AM, TimmyChunks said: Wouldn't that be funny! Wow, this was from a while ago! I forgot about it altogether. When I did see them a couple months ago I asked about Timmy (I mentioned this in the equipment page). The answer is that they don't really keep in touch, they think he lives in LA, and they were impressed I knew who he was. So, there you go!
letsdanceon Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 I could have sworn I saw him at the Cleveland Sweet Children "secret" show before the rock hall induction, although I could have been wrong.

Hahahahaha, yeah, that definitely would have warranted some explanation.. I'm definitely unsure of the state of the dudes back, all I know is that he was the nicest bloke when I approached him to try ask about getting a photo with the guys when I saw them out and about (even though the answer was no, he was super nice and almost apologetic about it.), and he even gave me a couple freebies during the show the next night as my partner and I were right up at the front barrier.. how he even recognised us among all those people spun me out a little bit too, the guy is definitely good at his job! Haha .. you don't get security like that very often these days, most of them are straight up douche bags, so we were both pleasantly surprised that he was such a nice guy
NettyChunks Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Hello! I understand that this is kinda older but if anyone wanted to know I am here to clear up a few things. My name is Netty and I am his daughter. This is true. My dad has been living in LA since he stoped working for bands in 2011. He sometimes works for bands. Most recently went on tour with rise against in Canada. He is now working in the local union as an electricIan. He runs an Instagram account for his new band, let rage. He stopped working for Green Day because they fired him for going to his best friend's wedding. If their are any other questions about him I am happy to help. He still attends warped tour. We went this year.

Hi Netty, thanks for coming on here. By that I assume you mean the wedding conflicted with work? Was it the same date as a show or something?
