Hermione Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 It's scary that it's that old! Great album indeed, I'll have to give it a listen to celebrate. My favourite song from it <3
The Great Saiyaman Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 One of their best and most underrated.
She_92 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 my favorite *-* Happy birthday Kerplunk! We are of the same age lol
Chin for a Day Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Well, I don't think it is one of their best, there are just too many quality albums to put it amongst their best, but it is definitely good, very good. Since someone already posted my favorite song off Kerplunk (Christie Road) I will post my second
Steven Seagull Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 It has Dominated Love Slave and Christie Road. But the album is not in my top 5
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I think Kerplunk is my second-favorite album artwork, besides AI. I don't even know what it's supposed to mean, but I like it.
JardyOfSuburbia Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I always remember being fascinated with Kerplunk when I was getting into Green Day. I didn't understand record labels, and independent releases at the time and I couldn't really understand what Kerplunk was because I was just so sure that Dookie was their first album. What made it even more confusing is that Welcome To Paradise was on both records! I remember having a friend download the album for me on Limewire and burning me the CD. It's one of my favorite Green Day albums. Words I Might Have Ate, 80, Christie Road and 2,000 Light Years Away are my faves.
Siddharth_471 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Kerplunk is a great album, with this Green Day turned their music structure a bit more complex and fast-paced. "No One Knows" is my favourite.
howi Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 "When I was younger I thought the world circled around me But in time I realized I was wrong My immortal thoughts turned into just dreams of a dead future It was a tragic case of my reality.........." i'm singing one of my lies...... great album

And with the story in the middle of the booklet it's definitely the most entertaining. Before I had Kerplunk I assumed it was just a little local thing they did when they were younger that wouldn't be available now and I'd probably never hear it. But then I randomly found it in a nearby town in a little alternative clothes shop that sold a few CDs. I don't think I've ever been so excited to get an album . I had to wait to get the bus home to listen to it so I opened up the booklet while I waited and found that awesome story inside, it was a delightful surprise

Private Ale. Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 I love that everyone loves this album. It may be underrated but it's not hated because mostly people who are interested knows it.May be that's better than being famous.Words i might have ate took some time for me to like but then i look at tracklist and there are no bad songs in this album
Grinch Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 80 is my favorite song on this album. There's too many others though that come close to me like One of My Lies, Android, and 2000 Light Years Away

"My Adventure With Green Day By Laurie L", it's a funny short story about Green Day and an infatuated teen fan who wins a contest to go on tour with them written by Larry Livermore that was originally published in a local punk zine but re-printed in the centrefold of the Kerplunk booklet. Here it is on Larry's blog a few years ago: http://larrylivermore.com/?p=192

I think it might just be a coincidence that both feature a young girl since the girl in the story is really quite sweet and innocent, and a gun isn't involved. Plus even though it looks like she's wearing a Green Day t-shirt now, at the time it didn't because that flower was just a flower, it didn't represent Green Day until it was in that artwork. Never heard whether there's a link or not though so I don't know for sure.
