Happy Birthday Tre!

I remember having no interest in it when it came out. I bothered to listen to it about 2 months later, then forgot about it. Now I occasionally enjoy it - not bad at all!

Still pretty shit, but at least it's better than Uno and Dos!

Got the cd, popped it in my car immediately, hit "repeat" before Brutal Love was halfway through.

I thought this was going to be a very early Tre Cool birthday thread

But happy birthday to Tre! Wonderful and varied album containing the best song of the trilogy and one of my at least top 5 all time favourites by Green Day, Brutal Love . 8th Avenue Serenade is another particularly great song with beautiful lyrics, and same goes for X-Kid, Missing You and also The Forgotten, love that they went full on ballad with strings and everything and it's a nice sentiment to end the albums on. And Dirty Rotten Bastards is very cool. I always liked all the albums but this is the one that has grown on me the most, just has some really lovely songs.

Also I was so very happy to see this live

X-kid is , for me , one of the best green day songs.i actually got into gdc to say that in the first place.X- kid is amazing. i fail to see why kerplunk or dookie fans don't like this song. This song is underrated, overhated but then i actually think the same things for Green Day.

I remember grabbing a copy a few days after it's release. Dos had put a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, and I hoped this one wouldn't be the same. (I actually loved Uno, to be honest :P ) Brutal Love has such a lullaby-like intro, that you can envision so many things listening to it. After listening to the whole album, I gave it a day or two to settle, the way you do after you watch an incredibly good movie, and have to take time to comprehend what just happened. The album went on repeat for weeks, just like the albums before it, but it has a very special place in the musical section of my heart.

Yeah but I was really lucky...greenday.com screwed up my order and sent it to Germany (Germany??!!) so I got it in February  So glad I had bothered to preorder it in July :fuckyou:

Anyway after Dos Brutal Love was serious ear therapy and I have nothing but love for Dirty Rotten Bastards and 8th Avenue Serenade. Oh and Walk Away. Yeah...Actually forgot how much I like some of the songs on this album. Definitely the best of the three.

Decent album. Definitely my most-played of the three these days, although that's not saying much.

I think I'll always have bitter feelings toward it because it was a "hey, your first Green Day concert was canceled, but here's a third new album a month early" consolation prize. :P

I dunno why, but when the album came out I got this huge Christmas spirit. Have no clue why, but I still do when I listen to it :)

Personally I think 99 Revolutions and X-Kid are the best ones :P

"Brutal Love" was the first song in quite a while that just blew me away first listen. You know, that intense feeling when you're just completely moved by a song? I overplayed it, but sometimes I still get that jolt when I listen.

Yes! Especially the "how low is this brutal love" bit. I remember when I sat down to listen to the album for the first time I had to skip back and listen to it again several times before I could move on to track two.

"I fell in love but it didn't catch the fall

You fell in love but then you just fell apart"

These two lyrics make much more sense when they're combined.I love x-kid.

Well then this was quite an accomplishment.  Too bad you did it half-assed, where is Tre's birthday thread?
