Mega Man Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I assume most people are aware of this concert, but for those who don't know, here's a little refresher:Every year, Neil Young hosts a charity concert for a school for special needs children. Not only a great cause, but there's many big-name acts that perform - Green Day's performance was in 1999. The sets are also acoustic, as electric instruments can be upsetting for the children.Anyways, Green Day rocks through a badass 9-song acoustic set, and we also have an early performance featuring Jason White with a crucial rhythm guitar role here. My personal favorites here are "Hitchin' a Ride" and "Geek Stink Breath". Two songs you'd never imagine would translate so well to acoustic. Other highlights are an early performance of "Warning", and a rare performance of "Scattered." It's also funny that they got Green Day of all bands to perform for an audience with mainly children. Did the organizers listen to Dookie? Now with such a great performance, I'm really wondering about the availability of this, knowing that it was professionally recorded. First off, if you haven't downloaded this yet, I reccommend you check out "Hitchin' a Ride" and "Longview" from The Bridge School Collection, Vol. 3:https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/bridge-school-collection-vol./id268022858These recordings sound great, but it's a shame that these are the only officially released recordings from Green Day's set. They could really be capitalizing a lot more on the big name acts that performed at the concert. While the compilations that get put out are nice, I'd love to see some dedicated releases. Wouldn't mind to see a good-quality video recording as well.
Hermione Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Such a great and unique Green Day show, always worthy of a refresher! King For A Day with kazoo is my favourite thing
Joe. Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Its a great show, something different to most Green Day live appearances

jengd Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 You know when you see something in a record shop and you just know it's going to be a rip off, but then you get it home and hey, it's got the Bridge School recording on it, just happened to me the other week. Darn, won't let me show you the artwork, it's called Green Day Unplugged 1996 and has the pic of them arriving at the award show where Mike has a shaved head, Tre has that acid green/yellow die job and Billie blonde with darkening roots. It says at the bottom "The classic acoustic broadcast" but that's a little misleading but it has the Bridge School and then some radio performances, haven't checked if its the same as On The Radio, so happy to get the Bridge School! Cost about £8.00. Sorry, not trying to blow @Bookhaml out of the water with this!
