SHM-CD Reissues?

I was considering buying some of the 2012 SHM-CD Japanese mini LP reissues of Green Day's first six Reprise studio albums, but I'm not sure if the sound quality would be that much improved (or if I would be able to rip the discs to my laptop). I'm not really much of a vinyl guy (for several reasons), I don't have Dookie or Insomniac on CD (I have Insomniac on tape), and I am able to hear some clipping in American Idiot and 21CBD, so I was wondering if anyone had the albums in these formats (or any of the other "improved" CD formats) and could give me their advice.

I've heard about these releases, but I've never seen them. I'd love to see pics if anyone has them

Best quality is vinyl

Vinyl isn't a serious alternative for me - the per unit expense is too great, and getting a good player and a good needle (so the discs don't get ruined) can be pretty expensive. Besides, I rather like ripping CDs to my computer - I still use an iPod (separate from my phone). I do like the warmth of vinyl, though - I have a couple of Bouncing Souls sevens (bought 'em for the bonus tracks), and they're easy on the ears.

This is how American Idiot looks like:

Looks just like my copy of the remaster of A Hard Day's Night (the soundtrack album) - packaged like a vinyl record.

Does your friend own the CD? I'd be interested to know what the quality is like - if it's any better than the regular CD, I might bite the next time there's a sale on CDJapan.

If someone has a recording program on their computer you can just upload the CD tracks and compare the waveforms from the original and compare to the new version. Maybe I'll just do it when I decide to get a copy.
