Jimmy Strummer Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Record Store Day is coming soon on April 18th, and as you know, Green Day has always done their best to support the cause and celebrate with a limited-edition vinyl release. Last year we got Demolicious, and the year before that we got an exclusive split-single with Hüsker Dü. But this year, according to the official release list, a seven-inch picture disc will be released by Frontier Records by a certain "Billie Joe" under the title "Live Freaky! Die Freaky!" Most likely it will be a seven-inch vinyl of the song "Mechanical Man" that Billie recorded for John Roecker's masterpiece film from 2006. Here's the list for you guys to check out: http://download.recordstoreday.com/free/RSD_2015_RELEASES_WEBSITE.pdf Anyone excited for this? Who's thinking of getting it when April 18th rolls around? I personally might get it, but picture discs are kind of a gamble, right? I heard that they're meant for display purposes more than listening pleasure, but some picture discs have been known to be playable with near-average audio quality.
Eric Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 More interested in what Kid Cudi is putting out on RSD.
Slydren Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I really want the Rocky Horror Picture Show EP and the Atreyu EP. Looking forward to Record Store Day this year, just like last.
Hermione Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 This is really cool. Makes me want to dig out the film DVD and give it a watch (with the highly entertaining director's commentary on of course).

stuart_and_the_ave Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I'd get it but it doesn't look to be listed on the UK website
moonflower93 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 picture discs arent bad i have one for collecting purposes. but im pumped, but im on a spendage probation until july. x.x [bills need to be paid]
Jimmy Strummer Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Not going to support paying $20 for a 7" picture disc, no matter if BJA is on it. That's suggested retail, though; your local record store might sell it for less. Even if it's a picture disc, it's just a 7", not a 180g 12" LP that would be more deserving of a high sticker price.

BCap Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I thought I was the only one who caught this - sent in a link via the "submission" button on the GDA main page, but nothing yet (even though I'm guessing I'm not the only one to have done so). This strikes me as being kinda important.
dumbell2424 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I must say...it looks pretty awesome. Sounds decent enough for a picture disc.
