SannyOfSuburbia
Might be a long shot but this video could be where Green Day took the Motorcycle sequence idea/inspiration from? Some of the camera shots are very very similar, they probably said to the Samuel Bayer to shoot it like that. Just my thoughts, would explain the randomness of why they chose to do that and then combine it with the nightclub scenes. It wouldn't be the first time Green Day have taken inspiration from these guys, listen to the style of this older song, notice that ending too, sounds very Green Day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJX_xxLM-Js - Consequence of Sound mentioned that the clips of the band driving motorbikes in the initial part of the video were irrelevant, stated that: "There’s also a random scene of the band riding dirt bikes through the desert, which doesn't really make sense in the context of the video but seems like a good way to spend an excess video budget." DookieLukie
Shameless plug. My recent blog entry "Trilogy Dissection UNO: Here Comes Treble" clearly explains the origin of this scene. SannyOfSuburbia
Is that song a joke? I just about burst out laughing when it started playing When have you not known bands to make funny songs? It's the music video we're interested in though in relation to Green Day. As far as I know they wrote it to make fun of the punky motorcycle youth gangs in the 70s that used to hang outside chip shops etc in Britain according to interviews

Hermione
Cool video! I guess there's many different motorbike related videos etc that could've been an influence but there's a half decent chance that could've been one of them given the band's tastes. Green Day themselves just enjoy riding motorbikes a lot as well though (they call their "gang" the East Bay Creeps) so I think that was probably the biggest influence.
