desertrose Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Bid on this bike donated by Billie Joe and Adrienne to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest's Summer Biddin' Online Auction 2014http://chimpsnw.afrogs.org/items/view/index.html?item_id=84045&category_id=&sortby=&start=0 Description Be the absolute coolest kid on the block with this out-of-production Raleigh Chopper mk3 model bicycle given to Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day as a gift when it was hot off the production line. This bike is in mint condition, and you won't find another one like it! The Raleigh Chopper muscle bike was first produced in the late 60s as a nod to the motorcycles made in the US around the same time. It became the UK's most popular children's bike, then a cult classic, still fondly remembered by those who were kids in the UK in the 1970s. The limited edition mk3 model appeared in 2004 and was made lighter and safer but still with deference for the classic chopper look and features with a 20" back tire, a 16" front tire, high "ape hangar" handlebars (yes, they are really called that), and a long seat with a back. For Green Day fans, their kids, or anyone who loves classic bikes, you have to bid on this!
Hermione Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Omg that's the same bike that was given to that guy who said his son's called Billie Joe and awkwardly hugged all the band members twice and creeped them out on TRL in 2004! 9:32 onwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU3EDyxIKZUCouldn't forget it . Well anyway it's cool that Billie and Adrienne have donated one to be auctioned for a good cause. I'll split this into its own thread.
moonflower93 Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 i have no room to put the bike. sorry. and my cousin would destroy it too.
Mykee Mexx Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 but.... it's so... fugly In Germany we used to call these bikes "Bonanza-Rad" in the 70´s. Maybe it was as comfortable as sitting on a horse, I don´t know (is it comfortable sitting on a horse?). And yes, I always thought it was ugly...

Mykee Mexx Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 it's pretty comfy depending on the saddle It probably was the Teen-Harley back then. The saddle was called "Bananen-Sattel". The rolling rocking chair.
Annie, get your gun Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 That bike is so awesome I remember they give one away on a K! contest. I wonder why they never put them out for sale, even if they were limited.
