Awesompawsome Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I remember this guitar was shown off at some guitar show recently but I saw it on gibsons website and I haven't seen anything about it on GDA/GDC so I figured id post the link herehttp://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/ES/Gibson-Memphis/Billie-Joe-Armstrong-ES-137.aspx Personally I really like it I wish they still had the other two signature electrics of his for sale though
Invention Convention Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 it's been on GDA, and i personally think for 2K it's a pile of crap. Billie Joe has used it like 4 times, he used grestch semi hollows to record the trilogy, so I think they're the semi hollows he really goes for. I'd buy it if it was at the top 400.

Yeah I'd seen it ina video from the guitar show but that was months ago I think, I mean I hadn't seen the link posted anywhere with specifics and prices etc or that it was for sale And yeah I totally agree, I'm not a big fan of the color either but it's wayyyy to expensive
Sarcasm Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Dat 3,299.99 I think the first one was pretty cheap, and now it's a product focused more on quality than on economy

DookieLukie Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Don't really like how it looks aside from the color.
Jet Taman Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Don't you think that Gibson would be more successful selling these if they DID make it more economical rather than focusing on the quality. Think about the "average" Green Day fan....how old are they? Could the average Green Day fan afford a $3500 guitar??? Would somebody who actually COULD afford to spend almost 4 grand on an electric guitar spend it on a Billie Joe Guitar??? I'm 37 and I think at this point in the game, I'm on the older side of the Green Day hardcore fan spectrum, and I just couldn't justify spending this amount of money. $1500 at the most. Gibson could make a guitar that has similar features for an affordable price. The Les Paul Jrs were perfect because they were relatively affordable AND you could pretty much find any picture of Billie during that era and see him playing that model guitar. I have difficulty finding pics of Billie playing that new Gibson. I'm sure someone will post a picture for me just to show me that they found one, gee thanks, you're missing the point, but I think signature guitars are the MOST successful when they are a) affordable and 2) recognizable. Example: the single cut Les Paul Jr's, the double cut yellow Les Paul Jr. and yes (shameless plug for myself) BLUE available at www.BJGuitars.com

Cause I think its stopped Gibson making some shitty replica where the stickers aren't really stickers, and its just some crappy body graphic and they're selling it for 5k or something ridiculous. You do such a good job with your Blues, dude.

I'm absolutely in love with Billie's Gibson J-180 (the Everly Brothers guitar), but I can't shell out 3-4 grand for it. I've been looking really hard for an cheaper version of it from Epiphone, but they are really rare and hard to find.

He's not gonna have a signature Gretsch when he's endorsed by Gibson though, is he? Anyway, it's not unusual for a Gibson to be this expensive. It's a shame that they're unaffordable, but if I had the money I'd have one no question. If you want a hollowbody guitar for under $500 get an Epiphone 335.

I never said he should release with Gretsch, but just because he is signed with Gibson doesn't mean he thinks they're God's gift to guitars.
