No, Green Day and One Direction are different genres, and usually, people who like Pop generally don't like rock and vice versa.

This is a new stereotype for me, haven't heard this before. If a big band covers a another bands song, it doesn't matter what genre it is, it depends on the original band members if they like it or not, it has nothing to do with what genre the song is.
