I cringe every time Billie starts talking about revolution and changing the world. It's not his politics that bother me, though I do wish he'd chill with them, but it just feels flat like he's not leading a militia he's on stage for a couple of hours then everybody goes home. I just wish his message was a little different.

But change happens in lots of little ways too. He’s not talking about storming the castle with pitchforks, he means things like voting and helping your neighbor and getting involved in your community. He may not spell it out but that’s what I think when he advocates for “revolution” or change.

OMG that’s an interesting unpopular opinion. I can’t get enough of HLAHG but then I love studio and behind the scenes material. The only part that drags for me is that silly JOS dance footage.

100% this. He's trying to get people fired up to do the work needed to make even small changes. If everyone cared enough to do something, we could really change the world. Except maybe at that DC show....I think he did actually suggest storming the castle (white house) there, haha.

And I loved that too! And the scene where he sings Novacaine acapella. He sounds great.

He's on stage for a couple of hours with most of an audience that can't even let go of their phone during this time. People need to be shaken up... Billie's message is not about the only word "revolution", that word may be connoted, but if you listen to Billie's speech in full it means changing your (bad) habits, doing what you can to change things around you. What Billie says in the first place is to put away the phone, watch out for each other, starting with right now, when you're at the concert. The "revolution" thing to me is a way of expressing his anger and the energy he puts against all the bad stuff, as opposed to the lethargy society and media tend to keep people in.

He said that in DC as he was in the place, and he wasn't gonna ignore it. 

It personally filled me with great, positive energy and joy to hear his speeches.

I felt meh about it too. It didn’t meet my expectations. There was quite a lot of filler, non studio stuff that wasn’t needed. However, some bits are really great, like Billie mocking the fan boards and crying at the end of Whatsername

I partly agree with this because the way he puts it can be a bit cheesy. But at its core it's a good message, and it comes across that he wholeheartedly means it, so I can let the slightly cringy delivery slide

I have an almost complete opposite opinion to yours. Maybe some of what I'll say is not so popular either.

And there actually isn't one single song on that album I don't find great, it may be the only album where I never feel the slightest envy to skip one song.

Bang Bang and Revolution Radio are both kind of forgettable and didn't do much impact to me, even though I loved Revolution Radio's opening riff.

Maybe they're forgettable, that's why I want to listen to them so hard so often, to remind me of them.  I'm addicted to these two songs.

Say Goodbye is loaded with bullshit vocal effects and repetitive vocals, but it has nice solo.

I don't even know how to describe this one; Somewhere Now is by far their worst album opening song, but that doesn't mean the song itself isn't good. 

SN is my favorite opening album.

Ordinary World is dull and doesn't has that same kind of emotion that Wake Me Up When September Ends, When It's Time and Good Riddance has. 

I agree, it doesn't have the same emotion, why would it have to have the same emotion than these songs? It drives an emotion of its own and I would not call it dull.

Rest of them sound and feel like fillers and don't do anything to me. They are just there, if you know what I mean. I really wish that I could connect more with these songs, but I just can't. I generally love everything that Green Day does and I will still listen their new songs, watch their concerts (because they will never come back to Finland, right?) and be a happy fan, but after I realized that Revolution Radio came out over a year ago.. I just thought to share some unpopular opinion right here. Hopefully you understand my frustation with this album.

I can't understand Troubled Times, Outlaws, Too Dumb To Die, Youngblood or Boucing Off The Walls to be fillers. The first 3 take my breath away every time, while the last 2 are absolute entertainment and adrenaline providers. 

I understand your frustration, I personally discovered the band just before RevRad came out, I managed to go to 3 concerts and came out completely blown away by happiness, so to me that era and that album were equal to absolute sunrise, not to the sunset you're describing. So Finland is one of the countries they've only been once or very few and haven't come back to since, but that doesn't mean you'll never see them live again. Maybe you will be able to travel to get to see them the next time they tour Europe?

Also, even though I really dislike ¡Tré! (way too many sad songs, like what the fuck. Brutal Love, Missing You, Drama Queen, X-Kid, Amanda, The Forgotten..), Amanda is really awesome song. I just wonder why the guitars sound REALLY off in this song.. did they play it as clean as possible or 0.1 distortion or what? You can really tell the difference when you listen all three albums in a row, especially comparing 99 Revolutions/Makeout Party to Amanda. But still, I love it. It's fun and catchy.

There are a lot of sad feeling songs on Tre (funny you didn't mention Walk Away, I find that one really sad and it's my fave with BL on Tre) and one thing I love about RevRad (among the many things I love about it) is that it's very emotionally balanced. Very emotionally strong but you don't get a depressed feeling after (like I personally do after listening to American Idiot notably, I usually won't listen to it twice in a row though I absolutely love it).

I love Amanda too. And the guitars sound fine to me on it.

Yeah, that part really turned me off it. So strange and unnecessary. It's funny because I like American Idiot much more than the trilogy, but Cuatro is WAY more enjoyable to me than HLAHG

I have to say I watch them both a lot. I find studio docs way more rewatchable than straight concert footage like BIAB or AAF.

I think at this stage, I prefer listening to trilogy songs more than RevRad songs now, mainly because there are much more trilogy songs but also because RevRad just seems less impressive to me than it did when I first heard it. Not that it's bad, I'd still rank it at least in the top half of the Green Day albums.

Rev Rad is definitely in my top 5 GD albums, but I've listened to the trilogy more than Rev Rad recently because I've over-listened to Rev Rad in the past year. There are parts of the trilogy that I like and there are parts that I don't like so much, but there's more than enough from the trilogy that I can enjoy listening to regularly. And there's some great footage from 2013- there's a lot of great gigs such as the Emirates, Reading, and Brixton gigs. 

Rev Rad means a lot to me because since January 2016 I have discovered GD, seen Billies initial selfie from the recording studio, ditched my old job for a new job I'm very happy with, immersed myself in the Rev Rad era, seen GD, and seen wonderful places like Western Canada, and the album has been the soundtrack to all the good things that have happened to me. However, I need to take a break from the album before I get sick of listening to it.

I did not expect you to agree with me but yeah if he wants to encourage change that's cool but the way he does it is a little much.

I feel like Billies lyrics have gotten lackluster over the years. In my opinion it's hard to find any subpar lyrics from kerplunk through American idiot and 21st century had some really amazing lyrics mixed with some really stupid ones. Obviously the trilogy lyrics are trash but even revolution radio has some really bad lyrics and I just wonder why? I write songs And once I have a melody it's easy to put the best lyrics possible within that melody so I wonder why Billie chooses some of the lyrics he does now. I just find it strange.

On another note i really like Devils Kind other than a couple of stupid lines like "I'll be the king forever" but id like to hear a better version and think it should've been on revolution radio. Body bag is cool too but I can take it or leave it.

It kills me that I can’t get Devils Kind and Body Bag on Spotify. I love both of them and if he wasn’t going to release them with Green Day Warners should at least put them on Spotify as BJA solo material like Foreverly.

Rhyming "crazy" with "crazy" in both verses of Android is pretty bad

I still love Billie's lyrics. His style has definitely changed over the years but I still think they are great. When he was younger his lyrics were straight forward and now they are more abstract, but I still think they are great. Of course there are some losers in the bunch but there were when he was younger as well. 

RevRad is still in my top albums, probably only surpassed by AI.

This is a few days old, but in my opinion HLAHG was absolute utter trash and completely unwatchable.
