Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I always looked at the line like the "liar" is looking for forgiveness in the wrong places, and looking for forgiveness that he's not going to get anywhere. Yeah I took it that way too, but the line just words it really badly! I always took the 'stone' to be a headstone, asking for forgiveness too late from someone they'd lost. Never given it any thought as to how that might fit with the rest of the lyrics mind... That actually makes it so much better! still doesn't explain what the liar is doing there and what he's asking forgiveness for, but at least it removes some of the randomness of "stone". Quote

Spike Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 Yeah but lying about what, why he's asking forgiveness, why it's relevant to mention in the first place, etc. Maybe that's for the listener to decide 1 Quote
Sauli Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I always thought that by using the word stone he meant an altar, or so. But probably it has an equivocal meaning. Quote

He could be using "stone" as a refrence to The Rock. Billie is looking for forgiveness from Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson as he lied to him about dieting or something.? 6 Quote

Purple Haze Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I always took the 'stone' to be a headstone, asking for forgiveness too late from someone they'd lost. Never given it any thought as to how that might fit with the rest of the lyrics mind... I've always thought it to be a reference to religion. Like, he's looking for forgiveness from God, praying in front of a statue or whatever. Not the best phrased lyric of Billie's to be honest. Quote
DookieLukie Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Kerplunk is their second best album lol Quote
DookieLukie Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Care to elaborate? "Kerplunk is their second best album." Response: Wow that's a laughably bad opinion. Quote
