Spike Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 They're the only band I know, and I actually don't hate them. I feel like St. Jimmy might almost work for them. No clue who the rest of the "bands" performing on the album are, but I don't exactly have high hopes. If I don't hate it, I'll be impressed. I don't see how Bowling For Soup could fail to nail it really. I can already hear it in my head and it's perfect. Beyond that, though, I might listen to have of each song then wish I hadn't bothered. I'm intrigued as to how Homecoming will turn out, though. And JOS too really, but I don't think I'll be interested in ruining that one for myself. 1 Quote

Rather like, after hearing how terribly an amazing song can be performed, I often personally learn to respect the original even more. But yeah, those two songs can both very easily be turned into horrible mess if the perfomance is inadequate. Quote

JOE THE X-KID Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I don't get the hate for the Know Your Enemy video, I think it's pretty well put together and fits the song. Quote
Spike Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 I don't get the hate for the Know Your Enemy video, I think it's pretty well put together and fits the song. The fact it's full of random basketball scenes is really bizarre and seems like extreme commercialism, ironically. Quote

Sauli Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Intentionally ironically. but people took it seriously so the irony kinda got lost...? Quote
Spike Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 but people took it seriously so the irony kinda got lost...? Yeah, I don't think it was clear enough. Ironic or not it just seemed like a massive advert for NBA, and given the subject of the song it seemed like a really wasted opportunity for a great video. Quote
green day is Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 wait so I just watched the KYE video for the second time in my life and what basket ball scenes? 2 Quote
Spike Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 wait so I just watched the KYE video for the second time in my life and what basket ball scenes? This is weird. The video that was always shown over here at the time was a full length version of this. 2 Quote

Anaïs. Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I actually kinda like the wake me up when September ends video. Your confession has given me the courage to come forward as well. 1 Quote
TommyGun Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 well, this basketball version of the KYE video really sucks, never have seen it before but always interesting to see different ones, but this really is too much of a commercial Quote
captain peroxide Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I like the WMUWSE video just fine, I just wish it hadn't given rise to so many misinterpretations as to the meaning of the song. 1 Quote

Backyard Skulls Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I've never seen the kye basketball version, only one I ever saw was the normal version lol. My favourite green day video is probably American idiot or walking contradiction. Geek stink breath is gross but that's not unpopular Quote
Spike Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 The performance sections of the WMUWSE video are utterly fantastic, they're my favourite bit of any video ever. Well, maybe apart from the baby singing along to Just A Day by Feeder in the video for that. But the rest of the video is horrible. I get that Billie is all for songs being interpreted in as many ways as possible, but in a sense it just seemed like they were capitalising on the glamourisation of war imagery for the sake of exposure. Plus Sam Bayer directed it, and you'll never get a good word about him from me anyway. 1 Quote

What channel did they show that on?! I've only seen it more recently, on Scuzz, and they show the proper one there now at least. Quote
