Anaïs. Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Trilogy: 21st Century Breakdown: Exactly, Toht's face is melting because he can't handle the pure epicness of the sound being blasted at him. 1 Quote
Tightwad Hill Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 So moving on... How is the Trilogy better than Breakdown, other than it's not? I just find Breakdown too boring. The album was too slow moving, songs are too stadium rock-like and in overall there's no punk sound to it. The trilogy at least tried to bring the punk sound back, but it failed terribly. Also, I liked the more energetic songs of the trilogy than the sadass Breakdown songs. Quote

"Christian's Inferno" is more punk than anything on the Trillogy. As for energetic songs...title track, KYE (for all its faults), Murder City, Horseshoes and Handgrenades, The Static Age, American Eulogy... And the sadass ones are some of the most awesome ones! 1 Quote

Guest Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 The only time people should be allowed to use the word "punk" when talking about Green Day are when it's prefaced by "not". Quote

I don't see how an album containing 21st Century Breakdown, Know Your Enemy, East Jesus Nowhere, Viva La Gloria, Christian's Inferno, East Jesus Nowhere, Peacemaker, Last Of The American Girls, Murder City, Little Girl, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, The Static Age, American Eulogy or See The Light can be considered slow moving. It only has four slow songs out of 18 on it, and one of them (Restless Heart Syndrome) is one of the best things they've ever done. If you want a punk album, Green Day aren't exactly the right place to start. I don't think they're trying to sound like anything in particular, and I don't understand the logic of disliking music because of what it isn't trying to be. 4 Quote
Guest Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Yes we're all very angry and upset. I actually punched a small child because I couldn't handle the rage that coursed through me as a result of reading your opinion. Poor Mia. I'm calling child services right now Quote

WhiteTim Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 It's one thing to like an album over another album but to say it's cause it's not punk enough is just I can't think of a nicer way so I'll just say dumb 1 Quote

Z J Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 1. The point of this thread is to spark arugment/debate...no? 2. Why is more punk inherently better? 3. GD is one of the biggest bands in the world but punk ain't what got em there. 4. Don't ever call the trilogy punk. Ever. 1 Quote
