Um, I live in the U.S., and I'm nearly 5 years older than you, and I just saw them live for the first time this past year... just because we live somewhere doesn't mean we're automatically capable of seeing them, nor does it mean we aren't able to complain about that. The U.S. is a big place, and there are plenty of areas in it that they don't hit. They haven't been to Ohio in 10 years and it's one of the most populated states. I can imagine there are plenty of other areas that haven't ever seen them... 1 Quote

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 When a continent goes 4 years without a concert, I'd say that's worth mentioning Yeah, but I hate when people just assume that because you live in the U.S. you've been to like 2354345 concerts. I had to fight through ridiculous circumstances to finally get to one at age 22, and wait in line 9 hours in the rain for front row, and it was a magical moment of victory that wasn't handed to me, goddammit. I earned it. Quote

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 You don't HAVE to see them in your home state though Well, the closest show this tour was like 3-4 hours from me... and most of the middle of the country was completely bypassed. They basically just did a Midwest tour. I'm not sure how close they were to me during the last tour because I didn't have a car/money to go during college anyway, plus the closest show was my first day of classes... and after that I just got pissed. Basically, you all just suck with your Amurican stereotypes. Quote

I've got really lucky with them really, whenever they tour over here they always play Manchester, which is about half an hour away from my hometown, so I've seen them there three times. Then less than two months I moved to London last year they played Brixton. But none of this will be making you feel any better, so I'll shut up. Quote

No, Amurica is the shit. #freedom (ha) Bonus information: I have a weird affection for the city of Cleveland, since it's the largest city near my hometown/where I live now, just about an hour away. So, they announced a Cleveland show for the last tour, and I rejoiced... and then it got canceled. They hate me. I almost made it to an Ohio show for the AI tour, but then my parents backed out at the last minute, and 14-year-old me didn't have a way to get tickets or get there. Next tour (which I assume will be 2015 at the earliest) I've already decided I'm using all my vacation time that year to follow them across the country. Translation: I'm lame. 1 Quote

The things people do for this damn band, eh? But yeah, I'm sure Billie's meltdown was entirely so he didn't have to play for you in Cleveland That's a real shame about your parents backing out. I didn't get tickets for the AI tour until the night before the show I went to, and like 15 people in my class were going (all separately, because that's how insanely huge that tour was), and I remember how miserable I felt the few days beforehand not knowing I'd ever get a chance to go. So you have my sympathy there, I almost know what it's like! Quote
Hermione Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Aside from California and maybe New York the UK is definitely the luckiest place to be a Green Day fan, for the size of the country the amount of shows they do here is crazy. They must just be able to sell lots of tickets here. I've never seen them Come and see them next time! 1 Quote
Backyard Skulls Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I was lucky as hell to see them in London last year, considering I live 12 hours away by car! On the other hand they seem to have forgotten that the rest of the countries in the UK exist Quote

So you have my sympathy there, I almost know what it's like! We were, like, ready to buy them and then they decided I was "too young." I think it was because my little sister was too young and they didn't want to show a difference by taking me to a concert and making her stay home. Granted, at 14 I was pretty sheltered, and Billie pretending to jack off in front of me probably would have made my brain explode. (Moreso than now, anyway!) Quote
GreenDayBass Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Listening to Bullet in a Bible now. It's been years since I last listened to it...love it especially given the whole concert-environment to it! Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I just realized that "Warning" is a shameless, SHAMELESS, rip-off of "Picture Book" by the Kinks. Quote
Anaïs. Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I just realized that "Warning" is a shameless, SHAMELESS, rip-off of "Picture Book" by the Kinks. You're a little behind. Speaking of such, just got my vinyl of that album in the mail today—for some reason it's about a semitone lower than the CD version, but that happens rather frequently with vinyl records and I think it sounds really cool. While I do still appreciate Warning as a song (possibly cause I don't like the Kinks anyways and I've known the song for so long) I cant help but wonder exactly how and why that happened Quote
