ThranaM Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Rolling Stone just put out an article with Bliie Joe getting interviewed by David Fricke speaking about Dookie turning 20 years. Read the article below:http://www.rollingstone.com/music/blogs/alternate-take/dookie-at-20-billie-joe-armstong-on-green-days-punk-blockbuster-20140203 "This was a critical turn in your future. What were band meetings like? And how did you ultimately decide to go with Rob Cavallo and Reprise? We were probably stoned. I gotta say that. We were always high It was this foggy process of elimination." "Why did you turn the gender around in that song's third verse? The whore is a "he".I wanted to challenge myself and whoever the listener might be. It's also looking at the world and saying, "It's not as black and white as you think. This isn't your grandfather's prostitute – or maybe it was." This record touches on bisexuality a lot."
don'tdreamitbeit Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 This is a really cool interview. Still can't believe that Dookie is 20
Alan86 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Some of the comments about 80 at the bottom are really immature. Fan girl teens most likely but their arrogance is unbelievable.
DookieLukie Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Was hoping for some clues about the future, but good interview anyway.
MaraGreenDay Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 What a good interview, i loved it! Some of the comments about 80 at the bottom are really immature. Fan girl teens most likely but there arrogance is unbelievable. I'm pretty sure that comment it's from that girl who use to be here (I think Bezzey was her username?). Anyway, a very stupid comment i have to say....
Reberebel96 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I think this is one of my favorite Billie Joe interviews, it's really interesting and they touch a lot of subjects about the album. I liked it so much that I read it twice
Andrew Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Some of the comments about 80 at the bottom are really immature. Fan girl teens most likely but there arrogance is unbelievable. Here is your daily reminder to never read the comments.
alexandra_1039 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Wow thanks for posting! the sexuality stuff they touched on was interesting, i also loved the emphasis of how completely stoned they were through the entire process.
Heather. Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 This was great, but I'm especially intrigued by the "forthcoming" Dookie feature with the whole band and Rob in what I must assume is a very imminent issue of RS!
DookieLukie Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 This was great, but I'm especially intrigued by the "forthcoming" Dookie feature with the whole band and Rob in what I must assume is a very imminent issue of RS! Wait what is that?
HolyHandGrenade Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 All the 80 h8ers are just immature and jealous Here is your daily reminder to never read the comments. Or to drown them out with GDC Approved positive comments
Heather. Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Wait what is that? I don't know, that's what I'm waiting to find out about! Fricke mentioned it in the intro.
Laura! Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Nice interview! Can't wait for the full thing. Guess I chose a great time to renew my Rolling Stone subscription.
Fuzz Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Great interview. I like that the author asked about switching the genders around on Basket Case and about Coming Clean. Always interesting for them to talk about the early days before they were in the spotlight. Looking forward to the full feature coming about Dookie.
DookieLukie Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I don't know, that's what I'm waiting to find out about! Fricke mentioned it in the intro. Oh didn't even see that. Thanks!
BeachBum Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Great read. Will have to pick up RollingStone for the full feature.
The Disappearing Boy Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Another great read from Rolling Stone. Look forward to more of this!
nothing_wrong_with_me Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I have a question. When they ask about songs, there is written in parenthesis that When I Come Around is "about his relationship with his future wife Adrienne". I've never heard that song was about Adrienne. Is it confirmed? Anyone knows where Billie said it was about her?
Mykee Mexx Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Yes, like the interview, very interesting. Stoned... aha... Hope he wasn´t stoned when he chose 80... Funny thing, when he said he was willing to try anything (sexually), but then got married to Adrienne. End of sexual revolution and exploration.
Iva Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 ^^ You scare me sometimes. I wondered about the he-whore for almost 19 years. It is never too late to find out, it seems. Thanks for posting this, we're enjoying the read in this household.
Heather. Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 He's mentioned the he-whore thing in the past. Just trying to make people think for a second I hope David Fricke never retires. He's one of us and does Green Day interviews right.
