Maybe it’s because I’m older now and no longer strung out on confusion about how I work. Coming Clean feels anxious and unsettled about it, Bobby Sox feels secure and sweet. 

100% agree with this! I never thought about it, like I classed them both as queer songs I suppose, but never stopped to think of the different life eras they each represent. Thank you!

Concept albums are prevalent across music. Some tell a continuous story, while others use each song to contribute to an overall theme. Regardless of the path taken, the process can be arduous and has even been known to tear bands apart. However, the result is usually pretty memorable. Here are some of the more notable concept albums ever made.

Of course the most notable has to be entry no. 20 :-

'American Idiot' (2004), Green Day

Green Day was an accepted pop-punk machine well before releasing American Idiot, but this record and the subsequent stage play that followed turned Billie Joe and Co. into mainstream giants. It's the band's most mature work, attacking a questionable U.S. government and calling out the overall dysfunction of the country. Fuelled by the title track, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” Holiday,” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” the album sold 16 million copies and won the Grammy for Best Rock Album.
