So I'm drifting off to an old interview with Billie and Lee Kirk talking about Ordinary World. The interviewer announces Billie as BILLIE ARMSTRONG. I know that's technically correct but without the Joe it sounds off. It made me cringe.

Understandable why. Every type of fan has been accustomed to either hearing Billie or Billie Joe; even the misspelled “Billy Joe” is less cringy because the pronunciation still stays the same.

My friends always try to say Billie Joe and frequently end up accidentally saying Billie JOEL and I have repeatedly told them "You can just call him Billie. That's simpler" because of it. 🙄

It’s technically not correct because Billie Joe is his entire first name (he has no middle name) so it’s like saying only half a name. I know it can be shortened to Billie as a nickname but if you’re introducing someone by first and last name you include it all. So yeah, weird for that reason.

I get that when you’re younger you want to seem older and vice versa, so that’s why it’s very funny and also understandable that he would prefer to be Bill as a teen and Billie as a middle aged adult
