Fuzz Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Uno sold 139,000 copies in its first week, Dos had 69,000, Tre had 58,000 copies sold. Do you guys think Foreverly will get more sales than any of those albums? While it has had a good two days in the top 5 on Amazon, I notice it's not very high on the iTunes chart - and of course we don't know how many have sold in stores. Just curious what you guys think will happen since it has fans of both artists going out and purchasing it.
Liam Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I don't believe so. They've had some advertisement but unless you're a good fan of either artist, you'll hear nothing about it. I spoke to about 5 big stores and they either said they had 2 - 3 copies or none. All stores even said they hadn't even heard about it. It's a good album but it's not going to outsell any of the Trilogy.
Overjoyyed Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I think it will have a good chance of outselling Uno and I would be surprised if it did not outsell dos and tre. I think Norah's side would be more interested in the album due to the genre and I am totally generalizing but I know Norah has an older fan base who would be more compelled to buy the album than just grab it online for free. But what do I know.
Sarcasm Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 it certainly hits a broader audience, I think it's a possibility.

StuckWithInsomnia Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Apparently in America its around 11 on iTunes, which is better than I would have expected. It might at least outsell Tre. I don't really know who Norah Jones' or the Everly Brothers' main target audience is, but for Green Day I would say it is mostly teenagers, and they probably buy the least amount of (but still listen to a lot of) music.
Spike Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I'm still astonished at how badly Tre did, especially as the best album of the trilogy. I think Foreverly will outsell it. You've got two sets of fans buying it given Billie and Norah's participation, plus maybe Everly Brothers fans might be interested. And it isn't coming off the back of two widely-panned albums.
Overjoyyed Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 UNO sold more albums than DOS and TRE. If it outsells UNO than it will outsell the rest. I guess I didn't word it properly but I said Forevely has a good chance of outselling Uno and I would be very surprised iF it did not outsell DOS and TRE
BeachBum Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I think it has a decent chance to outsell the later two of the three.
Cob Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Of course it will, but purely because this album has two fan bases behind it, Nora's and Green Day's.
Liam Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I guess I didn't word it properly but I said Forevely has a good chance of outselling Uno and I would be very surprised iF it did not outsell DOS and TRE Oops, my bad
Spike Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 At least if it bombs we've all got something Green Day related we can be hipster about. It's been so difficult since American Idiot took off.
tdlyon Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 At least if it bombs we've all got something Green Day related we can be hipster about. It's been so difficult since American Idiot took off. You could arguably do that with the trilogy...
WhiteTim Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I'll give it 77,000 first week. You are underestimating Norah's fan base... Her last cd sold 110k first week with very little promotions at all Jazz fans are very loyal Think bout it she has sold almost the SAME amount of records with only 6 albums as oppose to 11 albums... So you have a lot of Norah fans AND Billies fan base I think it'll be in the 100's... Tho I do think more Norah fans will buy it than GD fans will...
EatmyDookie Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 It will outsell TRE but not DOS and UNO
Guest Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Definitely. Norah Jones is the definition of stocking filler, the release date so close to Christmas will really help.
WhiteTim Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Past sales mean nothing. Lol ok... Yes past sales doesn't mean automatically the new release will sell the same amount or more but it does show a pattern... All I'm saying is don't under estimate Norah's fan base they buy her material (even her two side bands have gone to gold)
solongfromthestars Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I'd guess that it might outsell Tre at least. There were only a few copies left out of the whole shelf in HMV when I went to get it, I was pretty surprised.
Mr Panda Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 It will possibly outsell Tre and Dos. It's going to outsell American Idiot. BURN!!!!!!!!!
Akshat Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Nothing more than a 50k copies the first week. Norah may have a loyal fan base but this time around there was no exitement for the record. Look what happened with the wack album, had so many stars as guests but sold hardly 40k copies the first week. People don't want to spend their valuable money on music that they don't know much about. Even people here at GDC have not shown much exitement, atleast nothing compared to uno dos or tre.
CocaColaX Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 This was something I was wondering myself. I was thinking (due to Norah's quite high album sales figures), that it might just outsell some of the trilogy. I was really surprised at how similar Long Time Gone sounded compared to the Everly Brothers version [some paper's website had the 2 youtube audio videos up for comparison the other day]. I certainly had it pre-ordered from iTunes, as I had some money lying in my account anyway, but will buy the cd, when/if I see it in the shops (I prefer to have the cd to a download). On Monday it was at no 27 in the UK itunes, but it has dropped down to no 45 by today. I also thought I might buy some Norah Jones cd(s), but no, after listening to some youtube/iTunes clips, no thanks, couldn't listen to her music, even though I'm probably more the demographic age group for her music as opposed to Green Day's.
