Spike Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 So today I got bored and recorded some bass covers. I've done a few songs from Dookie, and I might move onto Insomniac next. I used the RockBand multitracks with the bass muted, and recorded my own versions. See what you think! I might share more sometime soon. JIGD13 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Nightlife or GTFO I missed the old Ceadog, always supporting GDC talent.
Spike Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Tits are also acceptable. Wait a minute. Since when was Nightlife on Dookie..?
Guest Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Wait a minute. Since when was Nightlife on Dookie..? Since I said it was.
Spike Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Since I said it was. Interesting. At least it's better than Longview.
Guest Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Interesting. At least it's better than Longview. Longview was one of the first songs I learnt, and I don't even play bass.
Anaïs. Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Interesting. At least it's better than Longview. Why does everyone here have such disdain for "Longview"?! I'm not turning into DookieLukie, I just can't understand why.
Spike Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Why does everyone here have such disdain for "Longview"?! I'm not turning into DookieLukie, I just can't understand why.Cos it sucks No, but seriously. Great bassline obviously, but not a great song. I love the little noodly guitar riff at the very end, but other than that it's below average. The vocal melody is really jarring, the chorus has a weird beat that doesn't really work, and it totally kills the momentum of Dookie given its place in the running order. And it's overplayed. And the lyrics don't appeal, at all.
Anaïs. Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 To each his/her own, I guess. *opens iTunes and plays "Longview"*
Spike Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Amazing man! Wonderful job! Tabs pls? Thanks! I could work on tabbing them out over the weekend, yeah. Or I could just make you watch the videos reeeeaally slowly

Spike Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 I like how you've used a foodstuff as an adjective there. I personally am a big fan of the cauliflowery intro to Nice Guys Finish Last. I can't say I'm a fan. I find the vinegary outro of BOBD more entertaining.
Jon Herroon Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I can't say I'm a fan. I find the vinegary outro of BOBD more entertaining. What about the milky solo on Restless Heart Syndrome?
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Don't forget the lettucey solo in Dry Ice. One of my favourites
Spike Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Does anyone else find the bass breaks in 86 a bit... biscuity?
Anaïs. Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 But you can't beat the chocolatey vocals on 80.
