What are some unexpected things you heard in green days music from any album.

The one off the top of my head that I can think of is the last note that's at the very end of sex drugs and violence ^_^

I remember hearing the solo in Restless Heart Syndrome, right after the 'Know your enemy' for the first time and being blown away by how dark it sounded....I definitely think of Green Day ever went metal that's what they would sound like, it's just a really raw sound, I love it to this day.

This. It makes the song, everything before that is just tension building, and that's the release. It's the best bit of the entire album.

The melody at the end of Brutal Love, during "Drop dead hideous." That falling melody is really weird, and that's what makes me love it.

Every time I hit the slowed-tempo portion of "Church on Sunday", I think the file was corrupted or something. Definitely not a surprise of the pleasant variety.

There's really not many of these, the vast majority of Green Day's stuff follows the same predictable formula.

Back when I was first getting into Green Day, the pause before "DUMBSTRUCK, gonna be stupid" on Waiting always caught me off guard.

In Lazy Bones where that part sounded like it would end, but then it goes again.

oh and all of The Grouch

Nightlife as a whole was quite unexpected, y'know

oh and all of The Grouch

How so? Its a pretty standard GD song...

Also, Nobody Likes You. The breakdown into that is phenomenal.

The "carried away" part of Dirty Rotten Bastards.

The transition in Before the Lobotomy...

When mikes vocals come in in X-Kid. Goosebumps.

I crapped my pants when they came in. Well, then that was one "unexpected almost made it to the toilet".

Not really unexpected but just gets me going. My two favorite-

1-Billie shouting "WOOOOOOOOOW" on any live version of She (especially the Jaded in Chicago version).

2-Billie shouting "WAKE UP" on Letterbomb from A.A.F.

That too! :runaround:

When Mike's vocals are present on the Trilogy at all instead of Billie double-tracking himself. :P Goosebumps.

Same, but now I love it, a well as being able to know exactly when it's coming without looking at the time mark

In addition, the first time I heard Dirty Rotten Bastards I was blown away by the unexpected solo by Mike (short but sweet) coupled with a great guitar riff 5 seconds later to kick off the "Juliana Homicide" part of the medley. It instantly became my favorite song from the trilogy

Yeah but the first time I heard it, it just made me splutter and it still makes me laugh ever time I hear it. Just my favourite lyric of all time.

The ending of J.A.R.

The mens choir solo in Fashion Victim

The sax on Jackass

All some of my favorite moments in Green Day's music, and all totally caught me off guard the first time I heard them.

All the solo's on the early songs

The recording of Letterbomb on AAF is from a show I attended, and I have to admit that he may have screamed that because the crowd was pretty dead and he wanted them to start getting into it. xD Crowds in San Diego are notoriously unenthusiastic.
