porksoda Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Idk if this deserves its own topic or not (probably not), but Green Day's "86" just got redone for Punk Goes 8-Bit. PG8B is independent label Pinhead Records' interpretation of the famous Punk Goes series, where Dylan from the label redoes classic punk rock tracks in an NES/Super Nintendo soundtrack style. So all the songs are vocal-less midi revamps, similar to music you heard on early websites, or, as mentioned, classic video games. The songs are all really well done, and he tried to steer clear of some obvious choices. I know that the first gripe is, "Why didn't he pick a better Green Day song?!" But from both a gamer's and a musician's perspective, "86" is a great choice because it fits the midi style really well without being complicated or boring. Green Day's more famous songs like "Longview" or "Basket Case" wouldn't have worked as well translated to 8-bit. This is the second installment of the Punk Goes 8-bit series and I encourage everyone to check out both editions. Like I said, they're both really well done. Also, they're free to download. So that's a plus.

This is really cool, nice to see a Green Day song picked and nice that's it's not the usual song choice. Also a while ago someone on here 8-bited all the Green Day songs, which is also cool.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 This is great. Now I gotta listen to all of them in the other link.
momoluvGD Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I love the 8-Bit version of songs. I really appreciate them using 86!
Todd Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Operation Ivy's Vulnerability reminds me of the original Kid Icarus song
Nuclear Family Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Fuck yeah Op Ivy has an 8bit cover!!! New ringtone fo sho...
Asa. Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I think "Brat" would've been a better choice, but cool nonetheless.
JIGD13 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Is this album from the same creators of the Punk goes series? Because I can't find anything about it in this site
porksoda Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Is this album from the same creators of the Punk goes series? Because I can't find anything about it in this site No, it's just in the same vein of the actual Punk Goes series.
