Vic_Rattlehead Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Am I the only person on this site who really dislikes the musical? :\
kripack Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Am I the only person on this site who really dislikes the musical? :\ Yes, you are.
DookieLukie Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Am I the only person on this site who really dislikes the musical? :\ Probably. Lot of fangirls here.
Guest Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Am I the only person on this site who really dislikes the musical? :\ You really aren't. Probably. Lot of fangirls here. Hardly shocking though, this being a fansite and all.
Comrade Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The musical was great, great fun. I enjoy noting the band for it's flaws but the musical ain't one of them.
Idiotic Tendency... Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Yes, you are. Please speak for yourself. Others don't like it.
Caractériel Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Am I the only person on this site who really dislikes the musical? :\ Nope. I didn't like it at all but no one said I had to. I respect them for trying something different though.
Anaïs. Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Probably. Lot of fangirls here. *sighs* Here we go.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Probably. Lot of fangirls here. Yup, no fanboys on the site. Just... girls... Have we not learned our lessons about the shit storms these stupid comments generate? Or do you just enjoy provoking them? Someone can be a female and enjoy the musical without being a fangirl. I enjoy the musical very much. I admit it doesn't have much substance in terms of a storyline and vocals really aren't that great, but I appreciate the musical arrangements and the band's willingness to try something new and I enjoy watching it. Certain songs work very well (Give Me Novacaine gave me chills the first time I saw it live) and others don't as much. Either way, nothing wrong with experimenting with a side project off a very successful product like the American Idiot album. I'm actually going to see it a third time in March. The second time I saw it the cast was sick and their performances were crap, so that's why I can justify paying again to see it a third time.
Spike Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Am I the only person on this site who really dislikes the musical? :\ Hell no. It's a cool idea, and I think some of the slower songs work quite well, even if they are a bit Mariah Carey-fied, but songs like St Jimmy etc are just cringeworthy. If they got some proper punk singers it'd be fine, but they're musical theatre performers who are obviously trying hard to have the attitude, so they just sound kinda weak. That said, I haven't seen the musical itself, so I can only comment on the songs.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 That said, I haven't seen the musical itself, so I can only comment on the songs. It basically is just the songs. It doesn't have much storyline. There are just snippets spoken in-between each song, but it's pretty much sung straight through.
forcingmetofall Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Probably. Lot of fangirls here. and fanboys?, i'm one of them. oK??
sara_gd Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I was expecting coments on the article and the video... But what's the news? It's not a new video (at least some bits that I recognised).
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Am I the only person on this site who really dislikes the musical? :\ Nope.
Overjoyyed Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I love hearing the different arrangements and interpretations of the songs! 21 guns is magical with the whole cast singing (I even bought the Grammy performance video when Green Day played with them on iTunes) Other favourites are: 1.letterbomb- I actually never really cared about this song until I heard the broadway version of it! I believe it's better than the original. And the added "wake up" just hits the spot. Major feels for that song. Now one of my fave GD songs all thanks to this project 2. She's a rebel/ Last of the American girls - I love how they put these songs together in one actioned packed song. Love it 3. Extraordinary girl- I love how they played up the middle eastern belly dancing music in the song. Original and goes perfectly with the story line . Just a huge fan of this Musical got to see it in 2011 and will see it next march! I am a huge fan of musicals in general so I'm extremely partial to this.

These along with Favorite Son and Too Much Too Soon, are my favourties. The ones with lots of female vocals, I think are the best, as when you compare the male vocals against Green Day, they do fall short a bit (with the exception of Tony Vincent - he was really good)
