desertrose Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Warner signs deal with Clear Channel - includes Green Day, for more airplay on radio. Fans will be hearing a lot more from Bruno Mars, CeeLo Green, Coldplay, and Green Day now that Clear Channel has struck a deal with Warner Music to get its artists more play time on the radio network's stations, websites and iHeartRadio app. http://www.brandchannel.com/home/post/2013/09/13/Clear-Channel-Warner-Music-Deal-091313.aspx

Although, I already hear enough of Bruno Mars and a fair amount of Coldplay, so I'm not sure what the problem there was...
Fuzz Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Pretty great news. I think I underestimate how much value radio still has in introducing people to new music.
amdr182 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Does it mean they will get played more on the radio worldwide or just in the United States? It might be a stupid question but I didn't get it.
BillieJoeObsesser Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 It will be great to hear them more on the radio again!
stories and songs Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I only listen to satellite radio, but still, this is great. As someone else said, I kinda forget that the reason why certain bands aren't played on the radio is because of the business side of things. If they get more airplay, that means they get more exposure, and that's always a plus.
karma1215 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I don't listen to the radio anymore but I fine this highly amusing.
tdlyon Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 This is great news. Lately I only really hear stuff from Dookie on the radio, with the occasional Holiday or BOBD thrown in. Probably wishful thinking, but it would be awesome if X-Kid started getting air play now.
American_edot Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 If they play xkid and other trilogy singles this might kick start the trilogy again and get it higher in the charts hopefully
ZSebs Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 If they play xkid and other trilogy singles this might kick start the trilogy again and get it higher in the charts hopefully I highly doubt any trilogy songs other than x-kid will be played, just the hits.
HaushinkaSins Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 i still listen to the radio (im old) so i find this to be great! much needed and itll be good exposure for the band. they might not play trilogy stuff but itll still get new ears on their music which will hopefully lead them to want to hear other green day songs
Jean Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Now Would be a good time to get a new single out. Missing you, for example.
musso_kn Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 As long as they air more than a minute of each song... Someone had to say it.
Caractériel Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I guess it's good for the band to introduce themselves to new listeners, but with so many mediums out there to find new music I question the relevancy of modern day radio anyway. Spotify has replaced radio for me. I'm sick of hearing the same songs on a loop all day when I'm at work. Looks like Warner are taking over the airwaves from now on. As for GD getting higher in the charts, I must be one of the few who really couldn't care less about the top 40.
Heather. Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I don't know if this is related to me hearing BOBD on the radio twice today and once yesterday. Probably not a side effect of this. I am curious to see if this is something that has the intent of playing a trilogy single, or just generally more of Green Day's hits. Not to be a pessimist, but I wonder if the writer of that article just name-dropped Green Day in that article as an example of an artist signed to Warner who might be played more, when in reality the deal wasn't done with the intent of pushing new Green Day music to a wider audience. It might be a happy side effect but we don't know for sure it was something done with the intention of bettering the careers of the 4 artists listed in particular. Yeah, Warner signed a deal. Warner has a lot of artists and they might choose Bruno Mars more than Green Day.
JIGD13 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Does it mean they will get played more on the radio worldwide or just in the United States? It might be a stupid question but I didn't get it. It's worldwide if you have internet
Cori Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Could this be why I head Oh Love on the radio this morning? I thought it was unusual. I haven't heard it on the radio since last year.
Clean Cut Asshole Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Oh, so this is why I've heard tons of Green Day on the radio recently. I thought maybe Billie had died or something, you know how after an artist dies they play alot of their work, I thought that's what was going on. lol
Heather. Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Could this be why I head Oh Love on the radio this morning? I thought it was unusual. I haven't heard it on the radio since last year. What station did you hear it on? (Or more importantly, google to see if it's owned by iHeart or Clear Channel or whatever) My mom called to say she's heard a lot of Green Day lately. I guess they haven't wasted time rolling this out? I'd be more excited if I knew they were going to heavily promote a trilogy single. I think Oh Love should be laid to rest in that regard. Play the shit out of X-Kid on mainstream top 40 radio, please.
