Hi Green Day fans,

I was wondering what album changed your life or made you a Green Day fan?

The album that changed my life was American Idiot. I was about 10 years old back then. I was skateboarden with my metthew and he always had a radio with him. I hear songs like Holiday and BoBD. I really liked it so we went to his home and search it on the web who they are. Finaly we found them :D It was amazing when we saw them the first time. We listen a lot to AI back then. We also discoverd the old songs and we really.liked it. It was the best year of my life and ill be forever a Green Day fan!

I hope I will read the story of yours :)

Greetings for The Netherlands.

American Idiot for me as well.

I guess I was sort of between a rock and a hard place music wise and it really defined the style that I like.

One album? Two albums. :)

Dookie

John Frusciante's To Record Only Water For Ten Days

It took me years to learn how to balance my raw, bold side with my melancholic, mellow side; but realising that those two have made me who I am was a good start.

Great topic, though perhaps it belongs to "Other Artists".

No, this is a thread about what Green Day album made you a fan of Green Day not all albums in general. Next time read the OP not just the title

A friend's brother recorded for me "Bleach" by Nirvana when I was.. mmm.. maybe 12 or 13 yo, he was a fan of the band, he was the first person that told me "Kurt has spoke for a generation" he always had with him a picture of Kurt in his wallet.I was blown away, and some songs kinda scared me at the time, but I used to listen to It everyday.

And then came "American Idiot" and my life was forever changed.. but I must admit that the album that really got me into Green Day so hard was "Warning".. but yeah, AI gave me the will to discover GD.

This thread is going to be AI about 400 times :P

Looks like I'm already the 4th...

American Idiot, without a doubt. :) This album helped me to change my viewpoint on several issues and start a new life and it will be forever my favourite album.

Dookie! I was 10, and it was the first time I realized there was music beyond what my parents listened to. I vividly remember hearing it for the first time and thinking "whoa! What is this??" That was it for me. 19 years later and here I am, posting on Green Day message boards.

AI without question. It was the first rock album I ever listened to, and not only did it instantly connect to me on a personal level, it opened the doors to classic rock and musical theater for me, too. Been in love ever since.

For Green Day it was Dookie Spring/Summer 94

For rock album Nevermind

For other genre it was U.G.K. Ridin Dirty

I wouldn't be what I am now if Green Day didn't release American Idiot

American Idiot

Changed my way to see life; I don't know if it changed me... but I guess it did :ga:

Kerplunk. i dont know. this album just enlightened me. the simplicity of the album, yet so much energy and feeling. its your basic garage rock songs with a fun but meaningful message story to it... it has a bunch of songs your basic teenage kid can relate to.. 2000 LightYears away, Christie Road, No One Knows and 80.

American Idiot definitely.

American Idiot, no doubt. Completely changed what I thought of music.

American Idiot obviously  I think it was either Holiday or American Idiot I saw on MTV and I was like fuck yeah and so American Idiot (and Green Day) were the first music I listened to and got into seriously.

insomniac definitely

American Idiot, definitly. It's the first Green Day album that I listened front to back (can we way that, in English?), in 2008. My friend gave me a copy of her cd :ninja: and I went to the cd store and bought International Superhits! to discover to band.

Dookie was the first rock record I heard when I was just 9 years old. Then, the album that really made me obsess over music was "Waisting Light." From then on, it was music only.

American Idiot - Its unexplainable just what this album has done for me!

The Replacements - Let It Be also means a lot to me not quiet as much as American Idiot but I love it equally as much!

There are other massive important albums to me but these to just mean something extra and have been so much more importance!

American Idiot, that's why no matter what, that will always be my favorite, i owe so much to that album

I could swear it was in General Chat when I looked at it. The person after me mentioned Bleach, so mentioning some other artist's album to depict own growing up is clearly not a sin. Plus, people work. It had been a long day. :)

Please, don't talk to people you don't know like this and cut them some slack. Save that style for helping somebody who's being harassed, for somebody who insulted something dear to you. Thank you.
