Punkfreak1414 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I was going to put this in q&a but I felt this needed its own topic because so many people talk about it. If there's already a thread for this you can delete this. Why do you think they won't play it? Doesn't it seem like it would be a perfect song for them to play and I bet they could nail it to!
ThranaM Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Because it's too fast. They can't handle the "fastness"
Cath Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 oh no please. in a interview on idiot nation Billie said they didn't think about it yet. they maybe aren't ready or they don't want to but NOBODY here can read their minds.
Guest Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Because Billie Joe is basically a Pokémon, he can only remember a certain amount of songs at any given time. While relearning the songs for Dookie, he accidentally overwrote Dirty Rotten Bastards, and he hasn't gotten around to re-learning it again. But then again, all he needs to do is learn Shoplifter, so I dunno. Search me.
Cath Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Because it's too fast. They can't handle the "fastness" where did you heard this? if they can play platypus they can play it imo
ThranaM Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 where did you heard this? if they can play platypus they can play it imo I was just messing around I actually think they will get to exhausted. It is really fast, and it dosen't fit very well in the setlist for this tour. It's a great opener though
Certified Nimrod Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 This does not need it's own thread. It'll get closed. it's because they hate their fans If I had the time, I'd reply with a bunch of pictures of Green Day hugging and kissing and signing stuff for and singing with and giving stuff to fans.
yuan Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 no one knows, maybe they don't like it, or they want to save it for the long term
Sarcasm Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I've been wondering that too, it's a great song to play live, I thought at least. I hope they'll at least do it as an encore on the second leg.
Comrade Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Dookie? Nah man, it's on Tré. Well I couldn't find a picture that adequately displayed 'a pile of wank' without breaching the porn rules.
Guest Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Well I couldn't find a picture that adequately displayed 'a pile of wank' There ya go. One "pile of wank", as requested.
Comrade Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 There ya go. One "pile of wank", as requested. A little unfair overall but I see your point.
Spike Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Well look at how long it took them to regularly do Letterbomb live, and that was even after BJ said it was his favourite song to do live. They'll do it, just not yet. It's no big deal really, they don't have to play every new song straight away.
Justin Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 this'll have to do instead Sorry that video is over powered by how awful that snare drum sounds. Lars Ulrich is even laughing at it I see the singer is taking on the Warning era Billie
Punkfreak1414 Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 Yeah you have a point. And I only think this needs it's own thread because everyone talks about it so much and how they don't play it.
Kayfabe Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I don't think this needs it's own thread I think it's a serious enough issue tbh I'm guessing they're holding out for their 900,000,000 mega-show in the near future to play it. I honestly thought we'd get to hear it in London
Khris Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 You will all survive without hearing this song live
TeaWithTheHatter Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 They could be saving it for a later date like everyone is saying. They probably wouldn't play every brand new song in one tour, they have to save some new material for future tours.
She is Amanda Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 What I don't understand is that Billie described it as, "an arena sing along like Jesus of Suburbia" and they just did an arena tour and did not play it once. I just think Green Day need MASSIVE help with their setlists. They're redundant and you can practically predict what songs they're gonna play each night. If they think playing Dookie every night is gonna make up for these shitty setlists they are mistaken. I mean, what happened to the surprises, the acoustic songs? They have 37 new trilogy songs and they haven't played more than 10 live. It's this fact specifically which bothers me about the trilogy. They know which 7 or so songs are the best, and they'll only play those, they might as well had only 1 album.
Cruise Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I am hoping they are saving it for us in Australia. Where we had our tour pushed back a year.
