fulcsibe Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I had listening the song called "Amy" from iDOS!. And i was thinking i really love this song. Billie wrote this song for Amy Winehouse. (Born 1983.sept.14, died 2011.juli.23.) Her death`s anniversary will be in 15 days!! It will be really cool to Green Day play this song maybe in Spain or maybe in August in London! What do you think?
fromdecimateddreams Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Me too. I love the simplicity of the song and I think it would be a great way to end a show, though I do really like Brutal Love as the closer.
musso_kn Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I think this is the most boring ballad they've ever released. There. I said it.
Guest Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I think this is the most boring ballad they've ever released. There. I said it. I agree with the sentiment. It's kind of a microcosm of Dos for me--boring, pedestrian stuff.
musso_kn Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I agree with the sentiment. It's kind of a microcosm of Dos for me--boring, pedestrian stuff. I have to disagree there. Dos is quite an exciting record as a whole - well, I suppose only compared to the rest of the trilogy - but I just feel Amy is a rather flat closer. I like to hear albums finishing with slower tracks, but there needs to be enough 'epic' in there to make the listener hit the 'repeat' button, something which Amy clearly lacks.
DookieLukie Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I think Amy is really cool and retro. Like a garage band ballad. Don't really care for the subject matter though.
OhTheGuilt. Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I'm falling in love with this song these days, don't skip It anymore.
Misterglasshalfempty Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I like the song, but the melody is just too similar to "All I've got to do". A shame though, because it could have been so good!
Flyingdonutz Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I hate it. Brutal Love is a much better closer IMO.
Guest Trotsky Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I loved it from the first listen. I hope they play it live some day...
isuckatthesethings Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I think this is the most boring ballad they've ever released. There. I said it. lolno thats brutal love
Iain Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I haven't really gotten into it, it's not my kind of song, but it would be a bollocks closer in my opinion. Brutal Love is better. By MILES.
musso_kn Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 lolno thats brutal love Brutal Love is gorgeous. I love the way it builds up to this sort of crescendo. It has a real doomy 'apocalyptic' feel to it that reminds me of Before the Lobotomy. However, it doesn't work well as a show closer. Only Good Riddance can end a Green Day show effectively, as cliche as that sounds.
Iain Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 lolno thats brutal love SAY WHAT? Brutal Love is gorgeous. You're pretty much summing up the song for me, but the way that it builds up and ends is...wow. Just, wow.

MaraGreenDay Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I love this song so much, the first time that i heard it i cried cause i really love Amy Winehouse, one of my favorites
musso_kn Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I hate before the lobotomy too I guess it's not my taste then No, Paul! This can't be true!
isuckatthesethings Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 No, Paul! This can't be true! They are both just so boring and after the first 10 seconds you can pretend the whole song.
stich Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I'd imagine the band finished the set with Brutal Love, then Billie came back and do Amy and Good Riddance acoustically
Jollyroger118 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 The Forgotten is the worst closer ever. It doesn't fit with the trilogy in any way at all and sounds too Lennony. The closing song for the whole trilogy should've been in the same vein as the trilogy songs and The Forgotten sounds like a bunch of stuff he thought he should say and not at all like what he's really feeling, especially compared to the rest of the trilogy. The only way to redeem The Forgotten is if Billie would play it acoustic like one of their acoustic encores. Many trilogy songs would be beautiful acoustic encores. And Amys okay, I like the idea and the lyrics more than the finished product. BUt to end DOS with a tribute to a fallen rock star from another rock star coming off the rails is very cool and in fact I would have liked it better as a closer to the whole trilogy than any other trilogy song. Except maybe Dirty Rotten Bastards
