Ultimate Guitar's Top 10 Rock Trios, No Green Day?

Ultimate Guitar posted the Top 10 best rock trios yesterday and Green Day aren't on that list (i was expecting them to be between 7-10),

Do you guys agree or disagree? Do you think they have fallen from the list in recent years? What do the Top 10 have that Green Day lacks, or do you think Green Day will start making a similar Top 10 list a few years down the line once they reach a 'classic rock' status of sorts?

The list is as followed:

10) Emerson, Lake and Palmer
9)Primus
8) Cream
7) The Police
6) The Jimi Hendrix Experience
5) Muse
4) Nirvana
3) ZZ Top
2) Motorhead
1) Rush

(NOTE: don't turn this into a band bashing thread, sure i don't think Muse should be in that list but that's beside the point)

It might be because they're a quartet now. :)

but they weren't from 1987 to 2012. Many of the bands on the list have split up or have dead members because they're all fecking old.

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about that.

That's just dissapointing.

they'll always have the best cock award to soothe this wound.

i wonder why they didn't include Green Day in it. maybe their commercially flop 3-album series reflected in rankings too.

oh wait Muse deserves to be in that list. Bellamy's orgasmic-like voice is unique. strict personal view, but i think they deserve the spot.

Not really. Green Day are one of the most popular bands of all time, and they don't need validation from an Ultimate Guitar top ten list.

Ultimate Guitar is meh. So yeah who cares?

Ultimate-Guitar's community isn't very Green Day friendly. It's basically classic rock and metal-centered, though quite a few people are starting to realize that Green Day definitely has it's rock n' roll merits, especially considering the fact that bands like Nirvana are now revered with a "classic rock" type status.

I thought the same thing.. how is Muse there?

but yeah, maybe because Jason is in now :P

If Muse is on there, Green Day should be.

True story, but it still disappoints. What are guys in Ultimate Guitar?! Jerks?!

The most abysmal thing on this list is not that Green Day aren't on it but that there are five bands higher than the Jimi Hendrix Experience on it.

Personally, I don't see why we should care. Granted, they are a trio but they don't need to get involved in lists about the best Rock trios or whatnot in any magazine. Also, this is rather subjective so even if Ultimate Guitar doesn't list them, that's their opinion and nothing more.

The most abysmal thing on this list is not that Green Day aren't on it but that there are five bands higher than the Jimi Hendrix Experience on it.

The fact they aren't even involved in the top 3 of that list is ridiculous.

The existence of ZZ Top is a source of great amusement to me, never mind their inclusion on that laughable list :P

it's crap because the original was taken down. This is what I was referencing

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I can only assume the absence of The Living End is no more than a clerical error.

Also, ZZ Top are ruddy bloody brilliant, so pipe down.

I actually like Muse, but they're overrated :P

If it was a Rolling Stone list I would care

Not remotely surprised. This seems a likely list for best power trios (Apart from Muse - I threw up in my mouth a little when I read that). Green Day are hated by just as many as they are loved by. I enjoy their music, but they were never going to get a place on this list. I mean, are you really saying Green Day are as good musically as Rush? It's absurd.

Rolling Stone lost all credibility for me when they placed Freddie Mercury at No. 18 on their 'Greatest Singers of All Time' list, underneath Elvis and John Lennon, which is like placing Joseph Stalin under Mr Rogers and Peter Rabbit in a list of history's greatest tyrants.

I love Green Day, they are my favorite band of all time and I wouldn't be playing music without them. But I just can't see Green Day on the same list as bands like Rush or Motorhead. They are a great band, but bands like Nirvana, Rush and Motorhead were the type of bands that changed music history. Now, it can be argued that Green Day brought Punk music to the mainstream, but you could also say that, without Nirvana, that would have never happened. I love Green Day and think that they are better than all of these bands, but they haven't really, "Changed" music history. They've changed a lot of people's lives though, and you can't say that for some of the bands on this list. (Muse)

That can be a very accurate assumption. Around the time Green Day came into the mainstream, Grunge was going on the decline (for numerous reasons) but the 90's punk was a different change in tone as nothing with grunge was sure at the time, so it paved a way for something to come along and take its place.

Kinda like two singers arguing over who should sing the chorus only for a third guy to sneak in and do it better than the other two together.

I really don't agree with that. Just by looking at the number of bands that are big now that absolutely without a doubt would not be there without Green Day (and most admit it themselves).

Well, you could also say that without some of the bands on that list, Green Day wouldn't be here.
