Aaron South Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 http://www.nme.com/news/green-day/65679 This story was printed last year after confirming their secret set on the Radio 1/NME Stage live on Zane Lowe. Given that they didn't perform it then, and taking into account the recent set lists, could this be seen as an insight into this years headline set? In an interview before Reading last year, Melvin Benn stated he had already secured headliners for 2013. Green Day would have known prior to the Radio 1 interview that they were due to headline the Main Stage a year later, so in hindsight this could definitely have been a little teaser for this years performance. What do you think? It would definitely be a memorable, and defining, headline performance.
musso_kn Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I'm pretty sure they won't do it and I don't want them to either. Now that they've played the album front to back in Europe, the novelty's worn off. I'd much prefer a varied setlist, containing a nice mix of trilogy songs, classic hits and some rarities.

The novelty hasn't worn off for the thousands of people (including me) who will be at Reading/Leeds who haven't seen them play it in Europe! I'd love it if they played Dookie at Leeds. Not holding my breath though...

Now if they played Platypus (I hate you) or Take Back (or both), my life would be complete...

Ha well yeah I'd be happy to pay for my LF ticket just to see them play Nimrod all the way through but I don't think that's going to happen unfortunately so I'd be happy with Dookie
Aaron South Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 I'm fairly certain there will be some special Dookie/American Idiot shows next year for obvious reasons. However they could always perform Dookie at Reading/Leeds and record a live DVD for the anniversary. Also, am I right in thinking they've performed Dookie at their festival performances (e.g. Belgrade Rocks in Serbia) and normal set lists on their own shows (Emirates Stadium) ?

Asa. Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I hope they don't play Dookie in full for a while. Its not as special that way! I'm glad those European fans got a surprise
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Before I went to Emirates I figured they would play dookie at Reading/Leeds as I remembered that interview but I was second row and watching Billie before they played Nice Guys Finish Last a guitar tech was about to come onstage to hand him Blue and Billie mouthed "not yet" before launching into NGFL and then Waiting, so I assume it was not planned just as Mike said in that Finnish radio interview, half the time they have no clue what is happening onstage until it happens! For this reason I doubt they would have planned anything that far ahead. Perhaps Billie just wanted to play the album all the way through again some day and he has...twice which was cool and lucky for those fans. Personally I wish I was there and wish they would do it again but I doubt it and wonder if a festival like Reading or Leeds even deserves something so special (if that makes sense...as I see Dookie as a special treat and half those there would not give two shits that GD are even playing not to mention that they are playing Dookie).
