This is probably the wrong place but I was playing Fallout 3 last night and this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYRE5y385Xk came on the radio, and I thought it sounded like the " Here's to all God's losers" bit of Dirty Rotten Bastards.

Green Day has gotten me into a lot of bands that they say inspired them. The Who for sure. I am so glad I discovered them, and their albums "Tommy" and "A Quick One". Here's a list of other bands Green Day have gotten me into:

The Who (big time)

Queen (big time)

The Beatles (big time)

Jesse Malin

The Replacements

Elvis Costello

Sex Pistols

Pinhead Gunpowder

Cheap Trick

Husker Du

Travis

Listen carefully to the intro of No Surrender (go to 0:40):

99 Revolutions, anyone?

No. Sounds more like Cheap Trick.

Are we thinking of the same band? The Travis I know of are a 90s Britpop group, and I don't see how they would have particularly influenced Green Day.

No, because of green day, that person discovered Travis (Why Does It Always Rain On Me cover probably)

One of the most important rock songs of all time; and obviously without it there would never have been any American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown.

Sounds like they performed it a little bit slower than their album version

Green Day did a cover of a Travis song once. But yeah, you're right. Not really an influence.
