Jimmy Strummer Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Hey guys!! Many (if not all of you) don't know that I have a show on my school's radio station, Rider University's "107.7 The Bronc." My show's called "Jimmy Strummer's Vintage Vinyl," it airs Friday nights from 7:00-9:00 EASTERN DAYLIGHT Time, and my gimmick is I play an album in its entirety during the first hour of the show (just like they did back in the golden-olden days of radio) with a standard mix of different songs in the second hour. During these past three weeks, I went through The Clash's Sandinista! (dividing it up into three sets of 12 songs), and now I'm gearing up for another three-week-long showcase, this time with ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! from (who else) Green Day!!! ¡Uno! will air this Friday, ¡Dos! will air next Friday, and ¡Tré! will air on May 10th (which is also the series finale of my show since I graduate a week later and therefore will not be able to continue my show on the school's station), and I'd love to have a bunch of new listeners so I can make this showcase a success and also end my show on a high note!!! Hey Jimmy!! I really wanna hear these final three episodes of your radio show, but I don't get your school's station on my radio dial!!! Well, you're in luck, random GDCer from another state/country/continent!! The Bronc broadcasts online as well as over the airwaves, so if you can't get my show on that old transistor radio your grandpop got you for your birthday because he's totally out of touch with today's technology, just go to 1077TheBronc.com, go to the top of the page, and click "Listen Live." Then, choose the WRRC1 stream to listen to my show LIVE!!! Can't get to a computer? No problem!! The Bronc also has a FREE mobile app!!! Just search "WRRC" when looking through the iTunes Store or Android Market!!! And that's it!! I hope you guys tune in for one or more of these next three Friday nights, and if you have any questions, feel free to visit the Facebook page I've set up for the show or ask me directly!! Oh, and one more thing: if I get enough GDCers to tune in, I'll definitely give the forum a shout-out on the air!! Just let me know if you plan on listening and when.
Jimmy Strummer Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 New Jersey sure IS in for a treat!! The songs that have curses in them will be censored of course, since The Bronc complies with FCC regulations even though we're not technically bound by them, but all three albums will be played in full!!!

HolyHandGrenade Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 That sounds awesome! I'd love to hear some GDCers to call in and drop some Green Day knowledge on the plebeians.
Jude O'Reilly Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 oh nice if I'm not busy I'll defiantly drop in shame it'll have to be radio edits but nothing can be done about that

Lauren Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 My show's called "Jimmy Strummer's Vintage Vinyl," it airs Friday nights from 7:00-9:00 EASTERN STANDARD Time, The current time in New Jersey is Eastern DAYLIGHT Time. Eastern Standard Time is for the people who didn't "Spring Forward". EDT is an hour ahead of EST. Just letting you know, because some places are still on EST, but we (New York/New Jersey/most of the east coast) are on EDT now. So if you say 7 PM EST, that's 8 PM EDT. but I think you mean 7 PM EDT, which is 6 PM EST.

Todd Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 So... why listen to it on the radio when I have the albums on my phone, cd shelf, vinyl shelf, ipod, computer, other computer, and car?
JOE THE X-KID Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Ahhh man i thought you meant Green Day were gonna play the whole trilogy live
Jimmy Strummer Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 So... why listen to it on the radio when I have the albums on my phone, cd shelf, vinyl shelf, ipod, computer, other computer, and car? Well I'm not just playing the albums; I'm showcasing them. I'll be talking about what went into making the Trilogy, the circumstances surrounding it, etc. My show is about bringing the art of the "album" back to mainstream prominence, it's about getting people to start appreciating albums as a whole again. Yes, you could listen to it on your various other media, but when's the next time you're gonna hear an entire rock album being played on the radio, just like in the old days? You think that you can just turn on your radio on any given day and get all of Green Day's ¡Uno! in between double-shots of Justin Bieber or One Direction? I don't think so.
Jimmy Strummer Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Two days until ¡Uno! hits the airwaves!!! Who's gonna be listening in??
Slave To The Network Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 That's funny! My favorite radio station here is 107.7 The End!
Jimmy Strummer Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 ¡Uno! comes on tonight at 7:00 Eastern!!! Who's tuning in tonight??
Jimmy Strummer Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Only an hour and 20 minutes before ¡Uno! hits the airwaves!!!
The Governator Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 If I can make a suggestion of a new band that deserves some airplay, I would say, "Dinosaur Pile Up" and their first album, "Growing Pains." They are kind of a power pop/alternative band from England. Their second album comes out in a matter of months and I really think these guys deserve it. Anyways, good luck with the show! It sounds like you're doing a good job! So... why listen to it on the radio when I have the albums on my phone, cd shelf, vinyl shelf, ipod, computer, other computer, and car? Because it's probably a lot of hard work to get all three of Green Day's albums on the air playing all the way through, and you will probably never hear this on the radio for the rest of your life....
