W Axl Rose Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 The X's are everywhere on the album covers, booklet, lyrics and even Billie's clothing. What is the meaning behind them?
Guest Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 The X's represent Billie's growing move toward the Christian faith, as mentioned in the Rolling Stone article.. As we all know, the cross is a symbol of Jesus. To avoid alienating his anti-religious/atheist fanbase, he made the crosses sideways slightly, making them X's.
Red Lights Flash Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 It's a hint to the new superband they're creating with Nickelback. The members of Nickelback are: Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, Daniel Adair. Take a look at their first names.. Which letters of the alphabet are they? C, R, M and D... Which are letters 3, 23, 18 and 4 respectively. Add those numbers up.. Except for the two small ones. Because you're taking away two small bands to form a bigger one. Now.. 13 + 18 - 4 - 3 = 24. And the 24th letter of the alphabet appears to be... That's right, the X.
Snows Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Because X is porn. And prohibited. Punx, like his tattoos.
AngelBlue_ Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 someone asked that to mike on IG and he replied: @mike_dosxx , Mike what does the XX stand for? It's on nearly everything you and @bj_unoxx have!? mike_dosxx @mikey_rowlands X marks the spot, Hugs, and straight edge! Generation X ,X Kid! You name it!

Jet Taman Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 The lyrics in "Stay the Night" were originally "So won't you stay and count the X's on my eyes" instead of "So won't you stay and count the circles 'round my eyes". The X's can also represent being pissed drunk as seen on the Pink Bunny on Awesome as Fuck as drinking is another overlying theme of the trilogy. I'm assuming that just kind of crossed over to the whole theme of the albums but then they didn't even use the X lyrics in the recording. Of course, the reference to being an "X-kid" as well....
Fuzz Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I've always thought the X's were indicative of cartoon eyes when someone dies, they make their eyes into x's, like this.
AngelBlue_ Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I've always thought the X's were indicative of cartoon eyes when someone dies, they make their eyes into x's, like this. this reminds me of the Blink182 logo...the face with the X's , but I don't think Blink has something to do with the trilogy
Sarcasm Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I thought of something like Andres, but not as extreme. I just thought it meant they were knocked out by loudness.
The Forgotten Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 It signifies the death of Green Day and that they're never coming back after this album!
She is Amanda Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I thought it was like the awesome as fuck bunny was dead and the x kid was dead so.... death like Andres said
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 My family asked me this yesterday when I showed them the trilogy shirt I bought... they weren't very satisfied with my "uh... I dunno" response. You guys are much more insightful. It signifies the death of Green Day and that they're never coming back after this album! ... except for you.
HolyHandGrenade Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 It signifies the death of Green Day and that they're never coming back after this album! They're fed up with Green Day, and from this point on will be leading an effort to revive The Network and top the Mars Hot 100 Billboard for robots and aliens with a good taste in noise.
The Forgotten Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 ... except for you. Don't get me wrong! I'm just joking, I like the trilogy! I'm pretty much making fun of the people who say Tré sounds like a "conclusive" or "career closing" album

Like concluding "The Forgotten" ending the trilogy means they'll never write music again. Puh-lease.
