I didn't create this topic to upset anyone. I made it so we could be good fans and show Billie we love him no matter what, I know you always support him, but if you don't start a group to try and help you'll never know if you could have helped or not. Please stop hating, I'm not making you like this. I just wanted to provide a place for the optimistic fans to support Billie's decision to be sober. Like I said, this isn't to make him become sober, its to let him know its okay to be sober. If you don't want to follow it, that's fine, but please don't discourage other people's want to show their love a support.

I'm also NOT saying if you don't like the page you don't support him. I'm saying that the page just allows there to be a physical representation and voice for all of us who care about him.

ALSO, don't call me a noob because I've dedicated A LOT of my time to Green Day.

Thanks! Love you all!

I'm quoting BJA on that one: "To reminisce is to die."

Let's move forward and leave it as it is, shall we?

To be fair, I don't think there was anyone hating on the idea in your previous thread. Some people were saying they didn't think it was such a good idea, some others were having fun with the subject (and let's face it, life is shit without having a little fun).

Try and take a lot of what people say here in good humour, because in most cases that's how it's meant to be taken.

rem·i·nisce
/ˌreməˈnis/
Verb
Indulge in enjoyable recollection of past events.
Synonyms
remember - recollect

I don't enjoy what Billie did. My dad did drugs and he left my mom and me because of them. I don't want drugs to hurt Billie and his family.

I understand what you're saying, but, you don't understand what I'm saying. I didn't make this page so we never forget what happened, I made it so it doesn't happen again. I made it so that Billie's fans who want him sober have a voice. Isn't Green Day all about speaking your mind?

I personally feel that we should respect Billie's wishes to let him move forward from this. The fact is, none of us will ever be close enough to him or any of his family members to truly understand what he went through. I think we should leave it to the people in his life who he knows and is close to to help him work through whatever further struggles he has and show our support by coming to shows and buying the music, just like we always have. Recovery support is the job of friends, family, and therapists.

Like I said, this is to be a strong fan base so he doesn't feel like has to do drugs before performances.

I did, but there were some people who did hate on the idea. Its just and idea to support him in a tough situation.

My dad did drugs, I understand what his kids are going through. I don't want that for his family.

My dad did drugs too. It was a combination of cocaine and his alcoholism that killed him. But he was a man who made his own decisions, despite the wishes of those who loved him most.

Similarly, Billie Joe Armstrong is a man capable of making his own decisions. He made the decision to check into rehab, which most people would agree was a good choice. Maybe he relapses, which to us would be a bad decision. But while we care about him on a human level, it's not up to us to decide what is good and bad for him. Billie's smart; in the end, I'm confident he will do what is best for both himself and his family.

I dont think any of us have the right to say we understand what any of the members of green day or their families are going through my dad drank too we all handle it differently ..im sure hes aware its ok to be sober and im sure he knows all the fans are comfortable with him..he just needs to get back into the swing of things without relying on alcohol and pills..thats his own journey we are just along for the ride observing all the lows and enjoying his/the bands triumphs in my opinion

No one is gonna hate, but I will close it. It's his life, and we will show our support by buying their stuff, listen to the music, stand in line for hours on end, post creepy gifs on tumblr and look at their faces in the posters on our walls and go "aaaaw".

I understand that you can see what Billie's family is going through because your dad does drugs, but if you want someone to talk about that, you can get 100 posts on the forum and talk to us in the advice section, which is hidden for you until you reach that post count. You currently have 12, so I suggest you post in the general chat and the GD forum until then.

Best of luck :)
