Punkfreak1414 Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I know it's to early and really this is more of what you prefer or imagine happening than a question, but what do YOU think green days next album will be like? Like the trilogy? Another rock opera? Making a striaghtfoward 12 song album like pre american idiot? What are your thoughts?
WhiteTim Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 You answered your own question WAAAYYY too early...
Awesompawsome Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I'd hope for another rock opera but I think it'll be a 12-22 song album that'll have songs with less of a party vibe and more lazy bones, x kid, Amy, rusty James sort of vibe with a almost depressing but not really, kinda like you're in a dark place and it'll be more serious, and definitely have more full band ballads that aren't just billie, I also think they will have extra instruments but not go overboard
Cath Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Billie talked about it in the Rolling Stones Interview. He would like something in the type of AI, an opera rock and he add some things about it I don't remember.
tdlyon Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 In the new interview Billie Joe said he's interested in making a new rock opera but recorded live and with less crisp production, a la The Rolling Stone's Exile on Main Street. Personally, I think this sounds amazing, especially with the tough topics his lyrics are sure to tackle.
J of Suburbia Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I think they're going to make the next album sound like a cross between Nimrod, American Idiot and Tre with a 12-14 song track list
Cath Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I'm sure the next album will be a huge succes just as Dookie and AI.
may10 Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 they're better with the rock opra Billie gets a kick out of making them and-they win awards for them!but anything is fine its Green Day
! Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Whatever they make next, soundwise, I'd like it to be like Nimrod.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I feel like another rock opera this early would lead to Green Day getting straight up bashed by critics for playing it safe and going back to the good old formula. I say let the trilogy vibe stick around for one or two more albums before making a glorious return to "their" genre. I would love to hear a low-fi album that sounds like Uno or Tre's songs put through Google translate and "translated" into the dialect of Dos. Take those catchy, poppy, guitar riffs and vocals and give them some bite.
desecrator09 Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I have no ideas and that's what kicks ass about Green Day. If I had to guess maybe something like Nimrod with more personal lyrics.
VisionsofGreenDay115 Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Billie wants to make that "live" sounding album and I totally understand what he means when he says that, but isnt 39/Smooth and Kerplunk kinda like that? Albums with not such great sounding recordings, an album that sounds like they just started playing and made one track and that was that? I guess it would be cool again, to have that rock n roll opera and not that pop-punk opera like AI and 21CB...
Fuzz Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I've mentioned on the podcast that I think the songs that are going to come out from this period are going to be exceptional. I can only imagine the type of stuff going through Billie's head as he's gone through all this. I really hope writing gives him a proper outlet. As much as I like Green Day's music, Billie's lyrics have always been king for me.
Zach Perron Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Honestly, I would be alright for whatever the band decide's to do for their next studio album! They haven't made an album that has dissapointed me yet, and i'm alway's excited to hear when they are recording for an upcoming album, so whenever they decide to start recording a new album, i'll be ready!!
Fish Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I could see them doing a rock opera again with sounds of some of the trilogy songs Brat mentioned. Should be a lot of good material though with Billie and rehab and such things like has already been mentioned on this thread.
inthehallwaynow Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 i've been in this relationship for years i cant see how they can do me any wrong.. love the music im always excited for whatever they wanna tackle next
BJWolf Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Aren't we all a little spoiled? I'm just as excited for new Green Day as anyone, but c'mon guys! We just got 36 new songs and 3 very solid albums and GD hasn't even toured yet lol. It's gonna be a long time before we get another album...but when it does happen I'm sure it will be amazing
isuckatthesethings Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I hope on something like american idiot and with the sound of songs like lazy bones and murder city and songs like that but with something different. But like Billie Joe said, he doesn't want to do things he already did. Im sure that the new album sounds fresh and new but still rock-ish like every other green day album.
Vic_Rattlehead Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I think another Insomniac-style album would be good, the dark lyrics Billie's bound to write after having a hard time for the past few months would go well with the dark vibe Insomniac had.
J&TheNight Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Oh I love the amount of responses that actually answered the question *sarcasm* I see it as more of a rock opera type project but in the mindset and style of Nimrod and Warning. I hope they don't TRY to do AI #2, as something like that would surely backfire. Personally I think that it wouldn't be well received if they went down the opera road again. I'm looking forward to them proving me wrong 5-6 years down the road.
LazyPhil Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 They'll surprise us like every time, and with his rehab chances are he wrote super awesome songs, and 2014 is coming which will be 10 years aftre Ai and 20 years after Dookie. And if the prophecy is correct we'll have an awesome album topping the charts
Jude O'Reilly Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Way to early to think about it but I want something with way less production hate me if you want but everything since 21st CB (IN MY OPINION so don't go apeshit guys) has been way to over produced, I want to hear something raw.
Charlie Boston Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 One of the only things I didn't like about the trilogy was the guitar sound. I just hope that for the next album they'll use the same sound that they used on AI and 21CB.
