Cath Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 The setlist was getting better every shows in the last week! Watch out for the california concerts!
DannyDirnt Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 So the setlists are improving? Nice ( <------ WTF?)
iScottie Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I feel really strongly about Sex, Drugs, and Violence being played at one of the last two CA dates.
JaHawk2009 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 If there were three CA dates, the case for a full trilogy over the week could be made. Sadly not. However I think promotion is. About to step up on the trilogy, with the band now back and able to appear publicly, it's not too late for them to give the trilogy another push. That said, I just hope Dirty Rotten Bastards gets played at Leeds Festival.
stich Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I feel really strongly about Sex, Drugs, and Violence being played at one of the last two CA dates. I hope also Little Boy Named Train gets played; But my expectation it's throwing back Let Yourself Go; It's a great energy song and they'll play it through all 2012 and (if I'm not mistaken) at the "welcome back" show in Ponoma; So I think that they'll should played it with more confidence
Cath Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I would switch Stop When The Red Lights Flash for Nuclear Family anytime! At the show on friday, I think SWTRLF was really the song peope were enjoying the less about the trilogy.

That song sketches me out anyway I always feel like I'm gonna get pulled over listening to it so I always skip it

Guest Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I fucking love SWTRLF, it's my favourite off the trilogy. Well, one of my favourites. I have about 3.
St.JimmyxChristiansInferno Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I feel really strongly about Sex, Drugs, and Violence being played at one of the last two CA dates. that would be cool im going to the LA show I want them to play Wild One and Wow! Thats Loud also DRB and somehow they stoped playing Let Yourself Go so hope they play that too
uhleckseee Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I really hope that more new Trilogy songs are included in the setlist as time goes on. Also, I'm really surprised to see Know Your Enemy still on the setlist. I remember reading a great discussion on here a while back that talked about the likelihood of ANY 21st Century Breakdown songs being on the setlist from now on. Out of all the songs, I'm surprised it's this one that's remained. It's a good live song, I suppose, a lot of room for crowd interaction and improvisation with the guitar solos and such, so maybe it's just seen as a good warm-up song to get the crowd pumped.

Having seen Green Day in concert three times now, the last two shows that I went to (last week) were the best that I've ever seen. I didn't even care that Know Your Enemy was played. It's soooooooo much boring on the album and when watching a YouTube video. However, in my person, it's a whole new thing.

Mar Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I would switch Stop When The Red Lights Flash for Nuclear Family anytime! At the show on friday, I think SWTRLF was really the song peope were enjoying the less about the trilogy. My friends and I were discussing SWTRLF the other night and while I can't say I was really gauging crowd reception during my show, I think that song is one of the very few songs that isn't as great live as on the record. I don't know, something in their performance just felt ... off. Stiff, maybe? I really enjoy the song on Dos and I think it's catchy as shit; I'm often singing "I'll make you surrender" because it's an earworm. But like, with that lyric, I expected a kickass moment in the show and it actually felt a little robotic, both Billie's delivery of it and the band while playing the song as a whole. I don't know if I'd say Nuclear Family is the right song to replace it (not that I dislike it) but I do wonder if SWTRLF is catching on.
timbojones Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I don't want to start a discussion here, but the place definitely doesn't "erupt". It may "erupt" during songs like Holiday, Know Your Enemy or American Idiot but definitely not during any pre-Dookie song. 2000LYA and Paslacqua might be two exceptions because these two songs have become pretty popular in the meantime, but the 90% of the crowd doesn't know songs like Disappearing Boy, Holden Caulfield etc. Disappearing Boy: Billie Joe starts playing the song, only a few people cheer and absolutely nobody moves although it would be the perfect song to freak out. Holden Caulfield: No crowd reaction at all. 0:54 A few hands in the air and this one guy in the third row is jumping up and down. I agree that the audience freaks out when Billie asks his famous question but nevertheless I can't see any crowd reaction Berlin 2012 might be a good example as well. Great crowd, lots of moshpits and stuff but during Pasalacqua everything slowed down which was very sad to see. The audience doesn't know any trilogy either songs though, that's right. But that's my opinion I dont want to go on living in a world where Disappearing boy is met with mammoth indifference, Yet half a dozen lines of a wanky single by G'nR gets the whole audience pumped. In fact now i think about it, I'm not sure that there is another band of green day's size with such a large back catologue that would spend so much of their set time on covers. You dont see foo fighters or chilli peppers playing half of other peoples most famous songs at regular intervals every show. they should ditch 90%-100% of the cover snippets and have more faith in there own catologue to get the crowd pumped rather then pandering to the weekend rock kareoke fans. Also on side note.... how freaking empty was the back half of the standing area in that dissapearing boy video! I know the crowd usually thins out a bit behind the sound board but that is ridiculous. there is so much injustice in this world!
The Governator Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Because it's not that great of a song, it probably wouldn't do well with the majority of the audience, it's too long, and it's a ripoff of Shoplifter, so they might as well just play Shoplifter because Shoplifter is better. (awaits the hate) Yeah man, I get what your saying. I just look at all of the topics of "Your favorite song off of the trilogy" and stuff like that and Dirty Rotten Bastards is first every time. I just don't understand.....
DannyDirnt Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Never EVER touch SWTRLF. That's the song I'm probably most excited about. I love that song, and it's a killer live. If you wanna change one for Nuclear Family take X-Kid, which seems to be the worst live one so far to my eyes. But Nuclear Family isn't that awesome anyway.

I also prefer X-Kid to Nuclear Family BY FAR. But if I had to replace one song for Nuclear Family it would be X-Kid because it doesn't sound much impressive live, it sounds better in studio to me.

Are you sure?Check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QwPys-Oklo It sounds great live to me(very close to studio version). X-Kid is one of their best songs EVER.They need to play this song.

The one thing I didn't like about SWTRLF live was how insanely fast they played it. The song is up tempo as it is! Although it got the crowd really pumped up, it was all a blur - I don't have much of a memory of that song, just that it was fast and that the lighting was amazing for it.
NoManCanEat50drumsticks Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 How about Missing You?? Is such a good song
