DTH
guys, just beacuase it has a piano in it, its netiher beatlesque nor like a joh lennon song. both never sounded like this. the forgotten sounds more like one of those soft rock ballads from the late 80s/early 90s. i compared it to bryan adams ballads before. WrongWayToSalvation
It's one of those songs that I have to be in the mood to listen to, HOWEVER I just...I can't get over the sheer rawness and beauty of this song. The entire time I listened, it just reminded me of a Queen ballad in its ability to be simple yet hauntingly emotional. You can hear Billie's soul he put into every lyric, and his voice flows so beautifully (as does the bass, drums, and guitar) that it gave me nonstop chills. You definetly get the feeling that, Uno was the lead up, Dos was the way out of hand party, and now here you are on Tre, looking back and realizing that maybe you got too out of hand. You're here by yourself, with your thoughts, and you just want someone to talk to. Something interesting I noticed too, this ballad sounds VASTLY different from the ballads on 21stCB, but I can't put my finger on why. If there's anything the trilogy made us realize is just how adaptive Green Day are to all music styles. And, for the most part, they can make them all work. One of the reasons why it sounds so different from say, Last Night on Earth or the intro to Viva La Gloria, is that it doesn't sound processed as hell. It sounds like it was recorded live. I really really like it, the only problem I have with it is that the lyrics are kind of cheesey, a little overly dramatic to be honest. Its still a really good song, and I hope they play it live. This also makes me wonder how Brutal Love will compare to it since its a piano ballad as well. I hope it doesn't sound too similar, otherwise that would hurt both songs and not make them sound as special.

Clockwise
The video can easily be edited to remove the twilight clips and insert more studio/live footage. Someone will eventually do it. That said I thought it would be worse than it is. That would be awesome, someone should do that. The song is phenomenal, so beautiful.
pucky
I know this has nothing to do with the song (which I absolutely LOVE), but...God, I can´t believe how incredibly BAD are the special effects of the twilight movies...Damn, it is 2012 already, and they can't even make a person running seem real. Schlappy
by all means go for it but i never understood why every time a new song comes out so many people try to think of everything that it resembles. i'm not exactly sure what that accomplishes... it doesnt change the song. looking for influences i guess? spark in the night
looking for influences i guess? Yes Everyone is inspired by something. I like to think that Billie is inspired by someone's music the way that I am inspired by his music
Clockwise
The song is VERY reminiscent of some late Beatles songs. I also agree with people saying the production is fantastic, seems to be something the entire trilogy has in common. Rob Cavallo is the man. It's been described as a kind of R&B styled ballad, and it apparently has brass orchestration. I'm excited to hear some horns on the song! It also has strings, like The Forgotten, but it sounds like it will have a different vibe.

Guest
I really really like it Who the fuck are you and what have you done with WWTS? The song is VERY reminiscent of some late Beatles songs. Eh, I'll give you that to a point. The piano chord progression and use of strings make it sound sort of like a George Harrison ballad, but it really sounds more like Green Day to me than anything else. The song that came to mind very quickly was a subdued "When It's Time". Also, is that a potential Aska sighting around 3:35?
Guest
It's a pretty song, but not one I'd listen to just for the hell of it. It's sort of depressing.
Clockwise
The guitar solo, while being primarily a 'classic ballad solo', the very last part is just so completely Green Day and I love it.
