Ok, I know that I already posted it on the RN thread, but the bits of the interview are really interesting, I think it worths the thread :)

Yep, you heard right: Green Day are back. And while lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong may be all grown up, the band will never get old. In the October/November 2012 issue of Nylon Guys writer Chris Norris talks to the guys about life, love, and, more importantly, their brand new trilogy of albums.

Bassist Mike Dirnt on what drives the band creatively:

“Every nine or 10 years, we seem to go through an intense creative period, and you tend to get your urgency from different things — whether because it’s your first record and you want to prove something to the world, or whether it’s just seeing life go by.”

Billie Joe Armstrong on reaching a milestone birthday earlier this year:

“It was relieving, cause for the three months before it, I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Then when it happened, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m still alive.’ That’s what’s been freaking me out lately, how it passes.”

Long-time producer Rob Cavallo on the band’s speed of execution:

“[billie Joe] sang Dookie in four or five days, the whole album. But what’s amazing is this time he sang the leads and all the harmonies on all three new records in just about two hours per song…[that’s] unheard of.” - Rob Cavallo

Armstrong on the new albums’ softer tracks like “Oh Love”:

“I’d been singing about hate and setting things on fire for so long, I guess it was about time I wrote about this.”

Big thumbs up for making a thread for this. It's always best to make a new thread for cool new interviews like this, keep Random News for random little things.

Sounds like an interesting interview from those snippets! And I agree about the photos :D. I wonder if anyone's got the magazine with the rest of it?

I love these guys so much!! They're so sarcastic when they talk, but you can tell they really care about it, and just feel awkward talking about it, but they have no issue singing about it!!

It would be great if someone that can have the magazine post the article :shy:

Thanks for posting  I would really like to read the rest of it, and I must agree about the photos too

You can buy it here http://www.uniquemagazines.co.uk/mens-interests-349232/Subscribe-To-Nylon-Guys-Subscription

It looks like you can only get single issues if you are in the UK.

Or you can get a digitalcopy for $1.99 here http://www.zinio.com/browse/publications/index.jsp?prnt=cat1960022&productId=500221621&categoryId=cat1960120 The Green Day issue doesn't look to be available yet.

I'm thinking about getting it but I've spent a lot on magazines recently so I might just get the digital one.

Nice little article! Have to admit, I got some chills when he was talking about Amy Winehouse and how she just needed someone to help her. I don't know if it was the way it was worded, but it was really sad hearing it from him, given the circumstances.

That was a nice article. I really liked the tattoo story, and lol at him stopping Adie from kicking that girls ass!

Very interesting interview!

Just one thing - he drives a fucking MINI COOPER? I don't know why, but I find that fucking hilarious. He's small enough to drive a Mini Cooper. I can't. It would have been a perfect joke for what this beloved thread turned into.

Brando committed suicide!? oh no... Billie used to tell stories about him at concerts. And they often make point of how fast the recordings were done and how the band was crunched for time, damn poor Billie. I felt stressed just reading about it

this interview made me cry..

That, was an awesome article. Really well done, maybe the best article about the trilogy so far. It shows that even though the print industry is sort of collapsing in on itself, there is still high quality work out there.

Thank for posting this. It was a nice article. I think I'll buy the magazine when it comes out here (I found last months in a shop today so hopefully they will get this one)

Thanks for posting it. It was a nice read.

Yeah. If you've ever seen the Green Day episode of VH1's Driven series, Brando's in that too, speaking about the boys. I remember hearing about his death at the time. Was very sad for Billie :(

Saw this posted on Tumblr. As always, Tre's answers are awesome.

This is kinda sad. =/ After iHeart and all that it's so weird to read/hear Billie talking about Amy Winehouse's issues.

Love this hilarious vid :D Billie answers straight to the point, Mike kinda hesitates a little and Tré... I don't know how he does to come up with his unique hilarious answers so damn fast!

And, no offense to Nylon, I wouldn't have thought that the most introspective article would have come from a fashion mag.
