That's a pretty good point of view ;)

American Idiot is my favourite album if that tells you anything. :P

It's alright, I guess.

I hate AM. It's useless, and the storyline sucks more than the story of Forrest Gump. What a useless piece of shit.

American Idiot is a masterpiece.

It's a good story for an album, maybe not quite complex enough for a musical....Still a good musical though don't get me wrong!

I've finally been able to listen to it this summer in whole since I totally overplayed it when I was ten and I hated it for the longest time. Learned a valuable lesson-dont overplay songs. I've been very careful not to overplay Uno

Personally I love American Idiot! :)

I don't know how you can get to a point where you hate an album because you've listened to it too much. It never happened to me, especially with American Idiot. It always sounds like new

No really, I like it a lot. Whatsername is my all time favorite song, I really like the small things he says, like he's forgetting the person, but not the time spent with her. That's just fucking deep man.

Ha!

As other people have said, I too think it is a masterpiece! I love the story, I love the characters, and of course I love the music!

Y'all have said a lot of great things! :) American Idiot is and always will be my favorite Green Day album!

it's my least fravrit green day album, and the storyline is mediocre IMO (don't really care about it)

Personally, I think it's a mish-mash of "fuck goddamn Bush shit" that tries to say something meaningful but comes off as incoherent babble. It really sounds like BJ's complaining about everything and nothing all at once. First he uses 'faggot' to criticize a nation, then he declares suburban rebellion (a 14-year old locking himself in his bedroom and destroying his furniture because his parents won't let him go to the mall). The themes decline even further into "I DO DRUGS AND I HAVE SPIKY HAIR. PLEASE NOTICE ME." Even more jarring is when the hemorrhage of psuedo-political gibberish stops for a few minutes to score a radio hit, a sub-Oasis "aah-aaah" schlock-fest.

Just my opinion. I don't mean to offend anyone who enjoys the album.

Love this album!!!! :D

Yeah, I like it a lot and hope to see the musical sometime. Although, i'm not sure if the video for Jesus of Suburbia would tell more story than the musical.

All in all, I like most of the stuff on it, and enjoy the whole concept rather than story. I also think Homecoming is one of the best endings to an album there is.

Letterbomb is the shit.

That is all.

This! After I saw the musical, the story was more powerful to me. There's a lot of things that I can relate to with the story line of the album
