desertrose Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Green Day's Best Songs Picks include 'Longview,' 'Basket Case' and 'Welcome to Paradise' Billie Joe Armstrong's recent onstage freak-out and subsequent trip to rehab are only going to be minor bumps in the road. His band still has three albums coming out over the next few months, and they still have a world tour in the works. We figured this was a good time to find out your favorite Green Day songs. The response was huge. Here are the results. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/pictures/readers-poll-green-days-best-songs-20120926
.Holly Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 nice to see people recognize JOS as a true masterpiece I would have to have Minority in my top 10 though.
Lauren Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I feel like J.O.S. is kind of random on that list. like I know it's technically a single, but it wasn't really a single, if you know what I mean Surprised it's #1 (not that I don't love the song)

IMO it probably is the best song they've every written, although it's not my personal favourite (it's up there though!)
Burnout98 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Oh god the comments... I really should never read comments on music sites....
TheBrick Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Half the list is from dookie! Didn't really surprise me though.
Satan Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 it's basically all dookie and american idiot though..
Eponine Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I feel like J.O.S. is kind of random on that list. like I know it's technically a single, but it wasn't really a single, if you know what I mean Surprised it's #1 (not that I don't love the song) I remember our local music video channel refused to play the video. Too risque for NZ tweens/teens.
! Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 nice to see people recognize JOS as a true masterpiece I would have to have Minority in my top 10 though. I love minority. I think people just overlook it because it's on Warning.
Eponine Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I love minority. I think people just overlook it because it's on Warning. But Warning is such a great album! Such a shame how little attention it seems to get.
! Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 But Warning is such a great album! Such a shame how little attention it seems to get. I agree. Warning, Minority, Macy's Day Parade, and Blood Sex and Boose are my favorite tracks off of the album.
Will117 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Waiting is easily one of Green Day's best songs tbh.
Freezing Melons Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It's hard to choose a top 10, but yea those are all classics.
Eponine Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Waiting is easily one of Green Day's best songs tbh. That song gave me chills the first time I really listened to it. So great.
Todd Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I was real surprised to see JoS won. That wasn't even a major radio single. and glad that there were no 21cb songs on there. They're good, but not the best.
BradGreenDay Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 There are no songs for Warning on there.... WTF Warning is so underated these days....
Brother Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Jesus of Suburbia is a masterpiece. My favorite song.WHAT?????? WHERE"S HOLIDAY AND WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS???????
Ritz Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I like Rolling Stone. They give Green Day positive press. Always!
Bolanic Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 It looks to me like that list was chosen by people who have only heard Green Day on the radio, and have never heard a complete album.
porksoda Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 List should be retitled "Green Day's Best Singles", and then be re-written to include Holiday.
That Dude Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I know what you mean. IMO it probably is the best song they've every written, although it's not my personal favourite (it's up there though!) What in the world is IMO?
