Happy 8th Birthday American Idiot

Because everyone is so caught up wit the release Uno, everyone forgot that it was 8 years ago today that one of the bands biggest albums was released. American Idiot brought us 5 singles with a music video to go with that. Green Day almost won a grammy for best rock album from this album. 8 years on this amazing rock opera is still known as Green Days biggest album with even a musical version of the show hitting the stage back in 2009.

So how about me all take an hour out of today to stop listening to Uno and listen to American Idiot just once

I remembered this AM!!! American Idiot has been listened to (and appreciated), from beginning to end :D

Can't believe that it's been 8 years already, holy shit. Seems like just yesterday I was 10 and listening to Boulevard for the first time and watching them at the VMAs and shit. Here I am, 8 years later, still as in love with them as the first day I listened to them.

I guess this deserves a celebratory beer.

I'm gonna have AI on repeat when I sleep tonight. Such a great album deserves praise and respect-o-rama<3

Happy birthday AI! The most epic album on earth! The complexity, the flow, the lyrics, the story, the punky music that goes along with it it's just such an amazing album.

Eight years already, damn!

American Idiot was when I first discovered Green Day.

I remember when they released the American Idiot music video and I watched it every day on TV. Then, the next year, I got the CD as a gift for my birthday.

Oh wow serious? 8 years has gone so fast! I remember when it leaked! I remember thinking it wasn't that great until after a few listens, I obviously loved it

Ummm...I said it first.

First album I ever bought! :)

I was waiting for this thread to start! This album changed my life in so many ways. I am the Jesus of Suburbia. I am the Extraordinary Girl. I am Whatsername. Simply put, genius.

I'm listening to it tonight with you all!

Edit: Nobody likes me :) I'm a rebel.

This album speaks to many generations; even to a forty something year old.

Thank you Green Day.

I can't believe it's been 8 years already. I'm listening to this album tonight, it's been too long since I've heard it all the way through in one sitting.

I remember I was 12 when this album came out! Can't believe it's been 8 years. I wasn't able to buy it until the spring of 2005 (that's when I first became a fan!). I remember buying it at Target and my mom wasn't going to let me get it unless I didn't listen to any songs that had "the f word" in them (AI, JOS, BOBD, Letterbomb, Homecoming) haha. I think those were the songs I listened to the most at that time just because I felt like "rebelling." Now I just look back and laugh at myself for thinking I was such a rebel.

All joking aside, this album changed my life. Not necessarily at the time I bought it, but during my years in high school when I was able to understand the music and what Billie was actually trying to say. It still has different effects on me to this day and that's what I love about Green Day. Every listen to a song can have a different meaning than the previous one. I love them so much!

The album that got me hooked on GD!

The album that brought Green Day's music to a whole new generation, gotta love it! I'll never forget how excited I was to get this when it came out. Amazing album, even more amazing memories. Happily gonna give it one (or 20) listens.

My favourite Album of ALL ALBUMS IN THE WORLD <3!!

It was basically my introduction to music along with Sum 41's Chuck when I was 13 and got it for Christmas.

happy birthday AI ! Changing the face of music and my life for the better. Only Green Day, with Dookie and American Idiot, have been able to make entire albums that I find to have every single song perfection. For American Idiot, I feel like they could have released every song off the album as a single and they would all have potential to make it #1 on the charts. I honestly can't choose a favorite song off the album cause each song is perfection in it's own unique way. It's so perfect that they made a play off of it and soon to be a movie! :woot: I mean, only American Idiot can pull off being a movie based off a music Album! (although I'm sure there's one out there). Anyways, happy 8th birthday AI and I hope you will still be celebrated 100 years from now.

I've had AI on repeat all day. I really can't believe its been that long. I still remember listening to it for the first time and watching them win a Grammy and all the music video releases and then finally seeing them live a little less than a year after it was released. And yeah, this album definitely changed my life. Thank you Green Day.

Its been 8 years. Can't believe it.

The feeling that I get while listening to it is overwhelming. Can't even explain.

I listen to it fully at least once a day. I still listen to Homecoming or Jesus of Suburbia when I drive. Its just amazing.

During my bass practice, the last song I play is Jesus of Suburbia. Always.

This album means so much to me, I can't even explain. Every song brings back some wonderful memories whle some take me to the best moments that I have had in my life with my supposed to be 'better half.'

Thank you Green Day for giving us such an excellent record. Thank You.
