WhiteTim Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 In what year/s were D.U.I. & Ha Ha You're Dead recorded? (Was it around Shenanigans?) DUI i'd say would be Nimrod in the Shenanigans booklet you can still see some of the engineer's name in the dui credit which states "Ken Allardyce" and Ken only credited for the Nimrod album so it's safe to say its a Nimrod bside ha ha is either Warning left over or international superhits session
kerplunk_chick Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 So John Kiffmeyer...what ever happened to the guy? He went on to be the drummer for Ne-er Do Wells which changed to the Hi-fives. He is not currently a member anymore though. "He currently resides in San Francisco with his wife Greta and son Lolo, and it appears he is no longer involved in music." -geekstinkbreath.net

Todd Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Lolo? This is even weirder than Frankito. It's actually the kids middle name, taken from John's native american grandfather's name.
SamMacs Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Wikipedia says (about Shenanigans): "The album contains b-sides, rarities, covers, and a previously unreleased track, "Ha Ha You're Dead", which was recorded in the late 90s but never released[citation needed]." It is listed as needing a citation still, though. On Wikipedia's Tre page, it says "He also sang and composed the track "DUI" ("Driving Under the Influence"), which was recorded for Green Day's fifth studio album Nimrod (1997) and was due to be released on the compilation album Shenanigans in 2002, but was omitted and can only be found online." Being that it is from Wikipedia, take it as you will. Not everything there is believable. DUI i'd say would be Nimrod in the Shenanigans booklet you can still see some of the engineer's name in the dui credit which states "Ken Allardyce" and Ken only credited for the Nimrod album so it's safe to say its a Nimrod bside ha ha is either Warning left over or international superhits session Thanks! Now when I think about it, DUI from Nimrod totally makes sense. I bet there's the same trumpet guy on that song as King For A Day. Also Ha Ha is only produced by Green Day I see now when I look in the Shenanigans booklet.
deadair Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Is that number 24 a Offspring cover? Nope, it's a cover of a song by The Who. The Kids Aren't Alright is by The Offspring, very similar but slightly different title. When I first got into The Offspring, their title made me think of The Who song right away lol.
Todd Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Oh my fuck! That's full of covers! Is that number 24 a Offspring cover? Facepalm. No offense, but are you the person that posted here that they played Green Day's "My Generation" at the olympics? Lol
Asa. Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Back in '87, when Mike played guitar, does anyone know what model of guitar he used?
Tre_Cool_is_cool Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I was watching a Green Day documentary on TV one time, and there was footage of Billie Joe playing by himself at a school talent show on stage and he was playing a song that I think was called like World v. World or something like that. Sorry I am not being very specific, but does anyone know what I am talking about?
Annie, get your gun Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Cause Rusty James is a character from one of Billie's favorite books about a gang. And what is the title of the book?
San Miguel Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 And what is the title of the book? I think it's Rumble Fish, but i've never read it

TheNimrod51 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 This may be a dumb question but has there been a Green Day song that wasn't a single that actually made it really big in the mainsteam? I've always been curious about this.

Todd Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 This may be a dumb question but has there been a Green Day song that wasn't a single that actually made it really big in the mainsteam? I've always been curious about this. St Jimmy?
WhiteTim Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Does that even happen, with any artist? Yeah not often but it happens just off memory Nirvana's Lithium wasnt intended at first but radio started playing it so the label made it one
Heather. Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 St Jimmy? If you take the term "mainstream" seriously then you can't consider anything that hasn't been played on the radio 100 times a mainstream success. St. Jimmy has more traction with passive Green Day fans than some deeper album cuts, but I wouldn't say many people outside the fandom know it.
NickD Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Does that even happen, with any artist? The Ataris never officially released Boys of the Summer as a single. It was a song that was accidentally played on the radio and started getting a lot of requests, leading the band to film a video for it.

Hermione Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Chump. First I've heard of that . I think they performed it on a TV show or two but it's not known by non Green Day fans at all and never was.
