Small review of Uno (german)

I found this on a swiss website (don't ask me what i'm doing on swiss websites :D :D). The whole record gets analyzed in a few sentences: we learn about the quality of !Uno! ("B-Sides of American Idiot", what the fuck?) and more about songs like "loss of control".

Mit “Loss of Control” folgt der perfekte Green-Day-Livesong: We’re so Crazy, You’re so Crazy” – das bleibt hängen.

I can honestly see where they're coming from when they say some songs could have been B-Sides of AI singles. Sound-wise, some songs really remind me of the B-Sides that were released under AI.

For those who don't understand what it's saying:

"Loss of control" is described as the ultimate Green Day live song (which makes me super excited to hear the song!)

The album's got more tempo than 21st CB and sounds more refreshing!

That is, from what I understand some tracks of Uno! come from the b-side of American Idiot? This is bullshit.

No it means that some songs SOUND like they could be on American Idiot...

Although you know Good Riddance was a b-side for Insomniac right? And that it was written during Dookie...

I Know, then in another period

Can anybody translate the whole thing?

it may be correct musically, but lyrically it's as far away from the truth as it gets :P

There is really nothing new in there but if you want...

Not one, not two, but three albums are being released by Californina poppunk-band Green Day within the next couple of months

“¡Uno!”, ”¡Dos!” and ”¡Tré!” is what they're titled.

But one thing has to be said: On “¡Uno!”, there is a wind of change blowing. Of course, Green Day is still Green Day, but there is not much left of the stadium anthems of “21 Century Breakdown”.

The opener already, "Nuclear Family", reminds us of "Nice guys finish last" and makes every fan heart leap of joy. The album continues with a wild pace. In songs like "Stay the night", "Carpe diem" and "Let yourself go" the band does what they're best at and that's playing fast songs, not too hard, not too soft, and lyrics that everyone can easily sing along to.

With "Kill the DJ", the guys strike a whole different, unknown note. Funky, danceable and above all it sounds like a potential hit. "Loss of control" is the perfect Green Day live song: "We're so crazy, you're so crazy" - lyrics that get stuck in your head. Also songs like "Angel Blue" or "Rusty James" do not constitute an exception to the "Green Day rule". Only "Oh Love" does not fit into the concept: slow radio rock, that justifiably closes the album.

Conclusion: Billie Joe, Mike and Tré did not reinvent themselves. What remains is the overtone that certain tracks could also have been b-sides of an "American Idiot" single.

Still, the album is a lot of fun and has a lot more pace than "21st Century Breakdown" does and sounds more refreshing as well. Fans that long for the good, old times will enjoy this album!

For me some b-sides from American Idiot are better then songs from record.

This is in portuguese. You don't know what it says? I surely can't read german, so please keep those conversations pm only, this is a public space and I would love to be able to participate. BTW, thanks a lot ANJA for the, apparently, amazing translation.
